The museum has a good collection of NZ related military aircraft, well presented with close up viewing available. Also a wealth of historical information including videos. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there and didn't get through everything. They offer a behind the scenes tour for a very reasonable $10 entry fee, but we did not have time to go this time.
They have a cafe that serves good food at very reasonable prices - I had a very nice beef and cheddar pie for lunch.
Best of all, admission is free.
