Not only Christchurch but all of New Zealand can be so proud of this wonderful museum. Being ex RAAF (1960 - 66) The various aircraft on display brought back so many memories of times spent on various RAAF bases including Butterworth in Malaya. The Bietnam era represented by the famous Huey's andf the dedicated staff who were only too happy to discuss their own experiences made this fantastic day for me.

“Seriously?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

This Airforce Museum is located inside a thriving suburb of Wigram. It used to be a Military Airforce until it's been converted into a residential suburb after the onslaught of earthquakes. The Museum is nowadays been used as conference venues as Christchurch is badly in need of one. There's hardly anything for you to see. Forgetful...

Thank you for your feedback. Wigram is a thriving suburb and has been for many years pre and post the Christchurch earthquakes. The Museum is located in Wigram and recently completed a large new extension which is currently being used as a conference facility for Christchurch.

The new extension is just that, it has added space for conferences, we have not reduced any of our displays or aircraft on show since its completion. The Museum's large collection is still on display for the public to see and there are over 28 aircraft on display, 3 gallery spaces, a flight simulator and daily tours. The new facility does look empty as it is not part of the Museum while it is on loan to Christchurch as a function venue. I hope you have a chance to visit us again and move through the main Museum to view all of our wonderful collection in our original main aircraft hanger and gallery spaces.

Free admission and interesting. Great source of history and stories, many planes to view. Disliked nothing.

“Informative and interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

I didn't get the chance to roam around here as much as it deserved as I was here on business. That said they have a large collection of interesting craft and the guides are very well informed and happy to impart their knowledge both of the aircraft and of the building itself.
If you have an interest in aircraft this is a must do!

For a country the size of New Zealand the size and standard of the displays is amasing. Very professional and a must for anybody with any interest in aviation or war history
