“Nice motel with very friendly owners”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

Unfortunately, we only stayed here for one night, but the motel was a nice and cozy place. Owners were very friendly and helpful and I liked the fact that wifi is free. Convenient parking just outside the room.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, which was nice and spacious. Highly recommended. Only downside is the especially bathrooms are a little worn down. And I hate bathrooms with showerheads suitable for kids and dwarfs only. Seems to be a general phenomenon i NZ though. Strange.

We booked this Motel via the local information centre without seeing it. No problem, this place is lovely. The rooms are large, clean & comfortable and you also get 500mb of WiFi free of charge. The owners are really friendly and nothing is to mjuch trouble for them. They recommended a place to eat locally and it was superb, so a big thank you. We would definitely recommend this Motel to others and would happily stay here again if we visit Christchurch in the future.

We booked a studio room for two nights even though we were really only staying for one night. But we had a late flight the following day and we wanted to sleep in and wanted access to a room during the day so in that situation we find it is just as easy to book a second night.

We were warmly welcomed and given a free map, the lovely receptionist taking the time to point out local attractions to us. Hotel is in a good location within walking distance to the city center (what is left of it) and bars, shops and restaurants along Papanui Road.

Our room was spotlessly clean but unremarkable, with a little kitchen and a little bathroom. It was on the ground floor and proved to be pretty noisy the morning we were trying to sleep in with people leaving and rooms being serviced.

Because we slept in so late our room just was not serviced at all which I didn't really care about - but when I went to pay for our two nights the lady at reception only charged me for one when I explained why we were leaving early. A generous touch. After all there was no obligation to do that but that gesture was much appreciated anyway.

Via email we asked for accommodations for a family of four (two adults, two teens) that wished to cook during their stay. What we got was simply amazing. We had the pick of two "rooms" that were actually small apartments. WOW. We had a large living/dining/kitchen area with a big comfy sofa and chairs, a large TV, all the pots and pans needed to cook a full Christmas dinner. Then there was the downstairs bedroom with a queen and single bed and then there was the loft with four more single beds. Oh, and a huge bathroom. We felt completely at home for the holiday.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, spending lots of time with us and not hurrying us, even though it was around Christmas. They offered maps and advice on what to see and where to shop for groceries. Free internet was available in the office. There was a hot tub and a small pool available in a lovely little patio area, complete with a barbecue if you wished to cook out. The grounds were simply beautiful with many rose species and other perennials to enjoy. The motif is, of course, Camelot, and the hotel is quite charming.
The location was superb, being within minutes of the airport and the Central Business district, with Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens within walking distance.
We would definitely stay here again.

Small rooms... one room is virtually open without doors
Age old equipments, designs, interior and even old style hot plate
Two taps with separate hot and cold connection- how the hell am I suppose to mix it.... My child's hand literally burned .
Hotel was being repainted and wooden support all over compromising privacy.
Cable wasn't working but thankfully owner wasn't kind to reduce 20 dollars of my Bill and lend some DVD
Look put for pictures of the room

Thanks for staying with us but it seems we could not satisfy you on any front which is such a shame as we get such positive feedback on our great complex which we take such pride in.
The two bedroom two bathroom apartment you stayed in is a super spacious two storey unit with huge lounge, dining room and kitchen and the bedrooms have triple sheeting on all beds and the apartment is newly refurbished except for the bathrooms. The hot plate you mention has 4 elements and belongs on the top of a near new stove in a near new kitchen. After looking at the pictures that you took of the basins ,which incidentally have a plug in the picture which all our other guests use to put in the sink and mix the water from the hot and cold taps to get warm water, I think maybe you need to really only stay in 5 star properties and not choose a character property such as ours. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness which speaks for itself by all the prior reviews and we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and we have an outstanding attitude to all our guests and always go the extra mile.
As we were all affected in the earthquakes and have ongoing issues to deal with in our businesses, it is sad to have a guest who could not accept the fact that we are doing our best to complete maintenance work in the shortest possible time to cause the least inconvenience to our incoming guests. Our guest wifi is free and will continue to be and we are sorry that this guest had an issue with the cable TV as the same day we were upgrading the wifi connection it affected our cable TV also. Christchurch is a great city to visit and the Camelot is a great place to stay but maybe not for you!

We had the pleasure of staying here for 6.5 weeks while our house was having Earthquake repairs. Penny and Brian truly made our family feel so welcome as it was our home for such a long time. Nothing was ever a problem. We had free wifi and free laundry facilities since we were long term which was a godsend.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and it was very spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable.
It has a fabulous location with so many wonderful eateries so close....Spagalimis Pizza, Thai, Chinese, Bar and restaurant next door, Service Station and a Liquor Store across the road.
DVD library in the office was handy when I had a sick daughter home from school.
The kids also loved the pool and spa.
The housekeeping staff were also so lovely and I got to know them really well during our stay and they did a great job with cleaning our unit.
Thanks for making our stay so lovely Penny and Brian....Merry Xmas and Happy 2013!!

We arrived at 11.30pm, and had to use after hours checkin, which was very efficient. The buildings had scaffolding around them. Good location. Found the fire engine red curtains in the bedroom off-putting, could not get the front door to lock, and the wifi was tragically slow. Staff were very sorry in the morning when we told them. We left about 8 so were only there a few hours so maybe not the best sample, but the camelot theme was less important than functioning wifi to me.
