This motel was just brilliant and the owners were friendly and jovial. The owners were very helpful with information about the city and were happy to provide local maps and advice. I mentioned that we were originally thinking of taking the Alpine train from Christchurch to Greymouth and return but it was going to cost us nearly NZ$800 and we thought we could see a lot more and do a lot more for that sort of money. The motel owners were horrified at the amount of money and she was going to write to them in protest as we were not the first people she has spoken to with the same complaint.
You get a small milk to have with your tea or coffee or hot chocolate that is provided in a little goody basket when they take you to your room. We stayed there two nights when we got there and then another night before we left. I would choose to stay with them again when we visit. They make you feel most welcome.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. We stayed in two different but similar rooms on our two stays - when we arrived...

This hotel is in an interesting place. Easy to drive by car and just a stroll through the gardens to get the downtown. Rooms are very large with a mini kitchen with direct entrance from outside of building (like in motel). Staff was very kind, we were given a city map with instructions. Unfortunately, in March there were still a lot of damage after the earthquake.

Our first day in New Zealand. Found this place just to perfection like a home. Owner was so helpful in giving details of stay and places to visit. Very clean and comfortable. A pleasant stay it was. The park was just right opposite with easy walking access. Food outlets and a mini mart was in abundance just behind the lodging.

Location is very good, easily accessible by car, but close to the botanical gardens surrounding the center. My room was large, spacious, and there was plenty of TV channels. The vestibule was also a kitchen (very well equipped). The staff was very helpful and friendly (information about city). I had a bargain price, but it seems to me that the standard offer is a little bit too high.

Well located motel in Christchurch. Close to restaurants and Hagley park. Owners are friendly and helpful. Motel is located on the airport side of the now somewhat desolate downtown area. Close to highways to the south and the skiing areas.

Room Tip: A variety of rooms including a family suite with a double bed and a separate room with three single...

This Motel is situated just over the road from Hagley Park a short walk into the CBD. There are a number of restaurants, bars etc within walking distance and it isn't as depressing as staying in town. The units are all quite large. We stayed in a King Suite with separate bedroom and other family had a Family Suite with separate bedroom. They both had lounges and kitchens. The only downside of both rooms was the size of the bathroom. Although there is a separate toilet the actual bathroom area is really pokey - I'm not sure how a family of four would cope but the large living area made up for that. We also found them very quiet even though they are on a main road and plenty of parking.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the road in case it's noisey (we didn't here any noise) and ask for...

Another great motel in NZ. We stayed here for one night last February. The owner is a character, hilarious laughing and joking with us from the get go. We had a unit on the upper floor. First of all it was huge, the biggest unit we had stayed in by far. There was a queen size bed in the main living area which was actually really nice because you could watch the tv in bed!! If you didn't want to do that there was a separate bedroom with another double bed and a single, so plenty big enough for a family. The kitchen area was more than adequate with all the facilities, the bathroom and shower were great too. Lovely location as it says right on the park. Great night sleep wouldn't hesitate going back.
