“Good coffee”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

We go here every week and love the atmosphere, coffee and the food.
It's very busy but be patient and a seat will come available.
A querky little thing they do is to give you the flag of a country to take to your table instead of a table number. We have learnt the flags of so many countries.

“It screams 'funk'!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

ACC is a bustling cafe in the heart of the up and coming Addington area, with all the charm of a cafe more akin to a metropole of say New York rather than Chch. Easy going friendly staff keep their cool even at height of lunchtime rush and nothing is a problem. Funky decor, divine coffee, fair trade shop/bookstore, coffee roastery, genuine customer - focused staff together all make this a place you'll have difficulty leaving!

“My favourite cafe - hands down”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

Not sure I would call the Coffee Co-op a restaurant - it's really more of a café. But it's my favourite café, and I drink a lot of coffee.
The food is fantastic (you MUST try the gluten free chocolate brownie - just don't try to eat it all at once by yourself!), and there is a good range on offer, from things in the cabinet, to ordering off the blackboard menu. Kids menus available too. The all-important coffee is always perfect - the baristas are skilled, and the beans are as fresh as you're going to get.

This amazing little place has fantastic atmosphere - it's been set up inside an old factory or printing house, with exposed bricks and beams, lots of big windows letting in plenty of sunshine, and yet it still feels really warm and inviting. Much of the furniture appears to have been converted, reclaimed or recycled, and there's a real sense of creativity buzzing around.

The usual sense of hierarchy among staff is conspicuously absent (everyone including the boss pitches in to help) and the staff are really friendly and efficient - they seem to actually enjoy their jobs.

In all honesty, it would seem hard not to enjoy working there. All the coffee is fair trade, there's a fair trade store as part of the building, and much of the food is made with fair trade ingredients. A meaningful percentage of the owner's takings also go to third world development projects, so for those of us who care about the working conditions and remuneration of the people who produce our coffee, you can't do much better than this café.

Try a visit - seriously, you won't regret it.

“Popular cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

Great atmosphere, amazing staff, delicious food and comfortable decor all in a remodelled industrial building make this cafe a delight to visit. The staff are so friendly and warn you if there will be a delay in cooking your meal. As it is very popular it may be hard to find a seat but it is well worth the wait.

“A joy to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

This cafe has probably the best coffee in Christchurch, and food is equally enjoyable. There is a super-friendly vibe to the place, and the owner really is great. We visit here on a regular basis.
