“A country haven”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

We loved it here and felt very welcome. Sally was an attentive and sensitive host from the moment we arrived. Her abundant organic garden – flowers and vegetables intermingled - was right outside our windows and provided much of the delicious food she made us. Our room was spacious and comfortable with beautiful bedding so we slept well. We enjoyed the peacefulness of being in a lovely country setting while still close to the city. Featherstone is a gentle place to retreat to.

Coming to Featherstone B&B is being welcomed into the home of a very good friend – a place with a warm heart that offers a relaxed environment, quiet but still not far from the city. The room is nice and cozy. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast close to the fireplace looking outside into the garden covered with a thick layer of snow. If we hadn't to move on we would have stayed another night. Thanks you very much, we are sure we'll come back.

My husband and I stayed at Featherstone on June 2nd and came in late, but Sally had the room beautifully warm and snug ready for us. Breakfast was delicious with lovely fruit from the garden and all that we needed to energize us for the day. The house is in a very quiet setting so we were not troubled by the sound of traffic through the night or early morning. The stay was relaxed and Sally is a lovely attentive host.

I stayed at 'Featherstone' last weekend and it was lovely. Sally & David (hosts) are warm and friendly, chatting over dinner (I pre-ordered my dinner meal) and breakfast. I could have the option of breakfast/dinner in my room if I wanted however chose to eat with them. Featherstone itself is a beautiful 'weatherboard' (wooden) house in the lower slopes of Cashmere (in an area largely unaffected by recent earthquakes). The garden is a big rambling one full of organically raised vegetables and fruit trees from which Sally prepares the meals - which were yummy!. The garden is lovely to wander around and find it's 'secret rooms' - parts of it being separated by high hedges. The view from the bedroom deck looks out to the mountains (Southern alps) and the bedroom itself is spacious and restful with a queen size bed. I had a rimu bathroom with shower and bath at my disposal and tea and coffee making things in my room. This place was great and Sally was so accomodating - I highly recommend it.
