Owner description: Enjoy a fun and informative Christchurch City tour on-board our classic 1960's London double decker buses. First, take a one hour highlights tour of the 'must see' central city attractions aboard the open-top double-decker bus. Our local drivers provide an entertaining and informative commentary along the route highlighting various points of interest including the Arts Centre, Hagley Park and Botanical gardens, Cathedral Square, Re:Start Container Mall, New Regent Street, Margaret Mahy playground and much more. Learn about the history of Christchurch including the vision to rebuild and restore the city following the 2011 earthquake. Once your central city tour is completed you then board a closed-top double decker bus and spend 2 hours exploring the outer suburbs of Christchurch. We visit the spectacular Mona Vale Gardens and then journey up the Port Hills to enjoy incredible views of the city, mountains and ocean. Next we take a scenic drive out to the seaside village of Sumner and take time to enjoy an ice-cream or walk along the beach before returning to the city.

The open-top double decker bus one-hour tour is a perfect way to view the central core of Christchurch, which was very sadly devastated by earthquakes. The tour guide lived through the earthquake and aftermath so, although we can never really understand what they experienced, he has a lot of personal stories. This is not a hop-on hop-off type tour, but there are many stops for pictures. They were very conscious of passenger safety and all around I would recommend this tour.

We did the 1 hour tour in the open top double deck bus. From the bus you could see that there is still a lot of work to be done to rebuild Christchurch following the earthquake 2 years ago. The streets are pretty clean now of the rubble and mess that must have had to be cleared. It is saddening to see so many heritage buildings being lost or yet to be pulled down as they are too damaged to repair. The vacant spaces where buildings once stood are a reminder of what Christchurch was once like. There is work going on everywhere as the bus passes buildings along the way and the way in which temporary buildings have been erected for commerce to continue is amazing. The tour may be somewhat centered around the earthquake and the damage Christchurch received but it is eye opening to see how the New Zealanders have overcome obstacles to continue on. The bus trip is well worth it and the commentary along the way is excellent.

We did the one hour tour and found it quite interesting. We are not from chch and so did not know what things were like pre quake but still found this the best way to see the city in an hour. Would recommend.

We have been living in Christchurch for a few months now and had been wanting to do this tour for a while.

We chose the 1 hour tour as we had other plans for the day and despite knowing a lot of the sites already from passing by we still found the tour very useful. Unfortunately a lot of the tour is centered around damaged buildings following the earthquakes but this is part of Christchurch history now and is important to recognize.

We got loads of interesting info from the guide and would recommend to visitors to go along.

My son and I were the only one on this 3 hour tour on a very very wet morning in Christchurch. We were staying at a nearby holiday park and they had booked it for us. We got to the bus stop where the driver introduced himself and told us what to expect of the tour but luckily for us, no other takers that day! We settled ourselves upstairs at the front and off we went!
The driver was very informative and amusing. He knew a lot about the different sights. We, as you can imagine, were so sad to see the amount of devastation in Christchurch.
If you are short on time and would like to decide where you would spend more time, this trip is ideal. We had one stop at a small cafe where the warm muffin was to die for.
There are 'comfort stops' so don't be concerned about the lack of facilities on the bus. We were taken back to the art gallery and left to enjoy the rest of our day in Christchurch. Good value!
