Lilac Rose Boutique Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #8 of 138 Christchurch B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence

We chose the Lilac Rose principally based on TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. It is located conveniently, a short car ride from the city centre. The house is large and very well maintained. It is clean and tastefully decorated. Our rooms were on the ground floor and a good size, with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are modern and of an excellent size with large walk-in showers and strong water pressure. A slight drawback is that the bathroom to the Garden Room is accessed from the hall but it was not too much of a problem. Pam and Denis are very welcoming and friendly hosts, who could not do enough to help us. The breakfast was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay.

We stayed at Lilac Rose for one night in December. The location is excellent and we didn’t have troubles in parking our car. Although we weren’t very talkative after a 24-hour flight, the hosts were very welcoming and friendly, suggested us a very good restaurant and kept us company with a cup of tea later that night. The room and private bathroom were very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the garden was full of flowers, with a spa which unluckily we didn’t have time to try. Last but not least, breakfast the following morning was simply gorgeous…pity we couldn’t stay longer!

Denis and Pam are very nice people but our two night stay was just average at best. They had been out of town and had family arriving in town so everything seemed disorganized and chaotic. Overall we were surprised that this B&B has received such high marks. The rooms were OK. Breakfast was OK - not exceptional in any way. Overall a disappointment for us.

We stayed at the Lilac Rose at the start of January 2013 and it was fantastic, I would recommend it to anyone. Pam and Dennis were so welcoming and fun to talk to, you instantly felt at home there. Dennis made the best chocolate chip cookies, so good I asked for the recipe and the breakfasts were delicious. We stayed in the attic room and that was the most comfortable bed! They gave great suggestions of things to do and places to eat. Definitely one of my favorites from the whole trip.

We were so impressed by the beauty of this home, we really felt relaxed here and very welcome. Right from our pick up from the airport Denis made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled as a family, so there was lots of luggage to haul in and out of the car and up the stairs, and everything just went smoothly. Both Pam and Denis were very helpful with ideas to see Christchurch in our limited time there. The breakfast was amazing, we felt like we were in a restaurant! So many choices! We highly recommend this B&B and would love to go back!

we stayed in this wonderful b&b for three nights and felt very welcome. we had the garden room which has a huge bathroom right next to it. the house if tastefully decorated, pam and denins are excellent hosts. yummy hot breakfast cooked every morning. there is no internet reception in the garden room, but you can use the comfy lounge to get that facebook fix. and then there is maddie, the adorable 6 month old retriever pup who will brighten your stay at the lilac rose. thank you so much for making us feel at home, pam and dennis.

Just got back from 12 wonderful days in NZ's South Island and have to say that Lilac Rose B&B was absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the Garden Room with private bathroom and I have to say that it was perfect in every way. Pam & Denis are delightful, friendly, considerate and knowledgeable hosts who make you feel that you are welcome friends. Of course their dog Maddie was a great attraction too! Denis's breakfasts were superb, and Pam, I don't know how you keep up the pace and yet manage to look so relaxed. We had 3 nights altogether at this B&B and connot praie it enough. Very highly recommended...and as we said when we left..."We'll be back!" Try and stop us.

Room Tip: I don't think it matters which room you choose, they are all excellent. The Garden Room had pati...
