Absolutely fantastic uncomparable service, hospitality and comfort! Amazing breakfasts, complimentary airport service, and just so personable around. Made us feel like family right away and felt right at home. Thanks so much Pam & Dennis!

It was our first trip to New Zealand and now is officially the best trip. We arrived at and left from Christchurch so stayed at Lilac Rose twice in both the Mulberry room and Garden room. Both rooms are gorgeous with the most comfortable bed ever! The Mulberry room is en-suite and has a wonderful bathtub. The Garden room has it's own toilet just next door so it's equally convenient and has heated floor, feels great when you walk in in a chilly rainy day! The garden is very pretty with roses and there is a fountain coming into being when we were leaving. The hot tub in the garden is a little piece of heaven when we soaked in the night we arrived. And Abbey is the most adorable doggie in the world, she is a darling! The best of the best however, is our kiwi host Pam and Denis. We've been invited to numerous coffee/tea, muffins, cookies, wine and cheeses etc etc and we felt like home. Pam's home made cookies are so delicious that we almost had a fight over them. Do ask for Denis' egg benedict for breakfast, it is soooo good that I had to have it for 2 mornings! You cannot miss Pam's fruit crumbles either, which is another special treat! Lots of good information of the nearby restaurants and places to see in town and they lent us bikes to ride into town. Denis even drove us to the airport despite we needed to be there at 7:30am and he went to pick up another couple from the airport really late the night before!
All in all, the whole experience is unique and wonderful! Thank you so much Pam and Denis!

Beautiful rooms with plenty of space! I really enjoyed the clawfoot tub! Breakfast was delicious, Pam makes a wonderful raspberry and rhubarb crumble. Pam and Denis were incredibly helpful during our stay. They provided us with directions to local eats and Denis was kind enough to run us last minute to a grocery store before our next adventure.

I stayed only one night at the Lilac Rose B&B but it was a real pleasure. I arrived there after a long day on the road and was happy to find welcoming hosts and huge, comfortable room.
In the morning I could borrow a bike and was provided with some great tips of places to visit. When it was time to leave to the airport, I was going to call a taxi but Denis offered me a ride.

We stayed in some great B&Bs in New Zealand and Lilac Rose definitely deserves that description. It's extremely well located for access from the main highway and the airport. The rose garden is stunning and the bedrooms are beautiful. Pam and Denis are extremely friendly and welcoming and Abbie the dog is gorgeous. The breakfasts are excellent - try the raspberry and rhubarb crumble. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Christchurch.

Room Tip: The Garden Room has great views of the roses.

This is a beautiful place -- roses everywhere, although they were just starting to bloom when we were there. It must be gorgeous by now. The breakfasts were wonderful -- we could have had anything, but always chose the delicious home-made muesli, with cappuccinos from their excellent machine every morning. Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and beautiful, with fresh flowers, which I especially liked. Pam and Denis were warm and generous hosts, knew everything there was to know about Christchurch, loaned us bicycles, and have a charming dog, Abby. I felt as though we were leaving friends rather than paid hosts on our last day.

My husband and I chose this B & B because of the positive feedback we saw on Trip Advisor. Denis picked us up and delivered us to the airport - free of charge. He and his lovely wife Pam could not have been nicer. They provided bikes for each of us to tool around Christ Church, and made good recommendations for local restaurants. Our room and private bath were clean and charmingly decorated in various shades of purple, and our bed was very comfortable. Pam and Denis provided a # of options for breakfast - all were great. We happened to stay there the evening NZ won the 2011 World Rugby Cup, so we've included a shot of a happy Denis. We highly recommend this B & B!
