Lilac Rose Boutique Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #8 of 136 Christchurch B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 24, 2011

This was our first time at a B&B, and it was wonderful. Denis picked us up on schedule upon arrival, and there were tea and snacks waiting for us at the B&B. We walked around the area, and saw many B&Bs, but they were on a busy street, which may not appeal to people like us who put a premium on quiet. Wifi was free with good speed; a rarity in NZ. I spent more than an hour soaking in the hot tub in the back yard; nothing better on a cold night. We were awakened at 5:30 am by an earthquake aftershock, but the house has ridden through all the earthquakes successfully, altho the damage from previous earthquakes is very visible riding through the city. The English breakfast was filling and tasty, fueled by lots of good coffee. Denis brought us back to the airport at the exact time; everything went like clockwork. We'd stay there again.

Stayed here for two nights before my flight back to Malaysia. A beautiful old house filled with character and a lovely garden. There was a hot bath in the backyard and lovely flowery decorations in my room. Pam and Denis were great and made me feel very welcome there. Loved Abbey and Puss, cute darlings. Pam was spot on with her recommendation for a transalpine train day trip to greymouth for the free day I had. Loved her delicious breakfasts and Denis cooked a mean plate of fried rice. Would definitely make a return trip given the opportunity.

The house and garden are absolutely beautiful in a vintage way! Very charming furnishings to a house that is more than a century old. Hosts Pamela and Denis were friendly and warm, together with their adorable Abbey and inquisitive Puss! Breakfast is glorious with many delicious options. Also did not stinge on the amenities - toiletries like bubble bath and massage oils provided were from Linden Leaves - which gave a very luxurious bath!

This Bed and Breakfast really is as beautiful as it looks on the website, and is finished inside and out to a very high standard.

Pam and Denis are the perfect hosts with excellent cooking and brilliant advice for exploring the area.

Lilac Rose goes above and beyond a Bed and Breakfast! I highly recommend it as a great place to stay to explore Christchurch and the surrounding area.

After a long search for an open B & B in Christchurch we (four of us) were welcomed at the last minute with great accomodations! Pam & Denis are wonderful hosts. We had a great time, great food and great hospitality. And no one can resist sweet Abbie, the Golden Receptionist. I wanted to take her home! We will definately be back on our next visit.
