We are Christchurch folk, born and bred but took the opportunity to find out more of the history of our beautiful city
Our Tour guide John greeted us in style and had so much interesting information to share. His passion for his job made the whole experience a delight.
Riccarton house is beautifully presented with elegant period furniture and a trip down memory lane as we viewed the kitchen equipment.
We completed our tour by visiting the cafe making the whole experience one to highly recommend
We are so lucky with our Guides. They are all so passionate about the stories. Glad you enjoyed.
Our work Christmas lunch was booked.A set menu with a few choices. We all enjoyed our choices.A nicely set dinning area.Bright happy staff.
A superb oasis of protected native forest just minutes from the city. As you step through the predator fence into the forest there is an instant crescendo of bird song. The boardwalk is about 30 mins, although took us a lot longer with frequent stops to admire trees, birds and fungi in the forest.
Stopped after on the cafe in the impressive house for coffee and delicious treats.
Really enjoyed a tour of this magnificent house - the restoration is excellent. John our guide was very informative with the history of the Deans. Well worth a visit if you like old houses and antique belongings.
We thoroughly enjoyed a well informed guided tour through the house (thanks Marina) conducted in the chronological order of its construction. Although partly rebuilt following the quake in 2011, the house has been restored and refurbished with period furniture from the times to make it seem lived in. There were some original pieces from the Dean’s to add to the realism. Wonderful to have part of Christchurch‘s heritage preserved in what has been such a difficult time.
We worth a visit, especially on saturday morning for the market. There's a small cottage at the back that details the history of the house and area and a short pest proof forest walk near the cottage. Sunday's they give tours of the house. Lovely spot.
We have guided house tours Sunday to Friday and Saturdays as well during the Summer.
