We arrived at 3pm thinking that a visit would be a waste of time, they close at 5.30pm and there is quite a lot to see and do.
However, Katie at reception assured us that we had arrived in plenty of time. She gave us a Vistor Map and wrote the starting times of the activities which we then followed.
The 4D Extreme Show was a lot of fun - with some surprises. The Little Blue Penguins were very cute and while they were fed we were given an informative talk. The Antarctic Storm was a good experience. Loved the Hagglund ride, I was lucky enough to sit up front so could see what was to happen as we travelled around the course.
There are a lot of exhibits and information to read and videos to watch. There is an audio guide but we didn't use this.
We enjoyed our Antarctica Experience!

This is a tremendous place for all of the family. This is not just a museum with artefacts; it is very interactive. Starting with a trip on a Hagglund caterpillar tracked Antarctic vehicle over an obstacle course it only gets better with a tremendous 4D video, seeing the penguins being fed any numerous other great attractions. This is definitely a place for all ages.

A great place to stop for a few hours if you are flying from Christchurch airport. Will appeal to all ages. We had a ride on a hagglund vehicle , stroked husky dogs, enjoyed a 4D Antarctic film, with a few surprises, and experienced an Antarctic storm all kitted out! There are lots of interesting information boards to read and of course you can’t miss the blue penguins out! We didn’t eat in the restaurant but it looked good. There is the inevitable shop at the end too. Oh and you can sit on a couple of skidoos- great photo opportunity!

We've been here several times and always enjoy it. The team ride is a bit forced, but be sure to enjoy the penguins!

Found this museum to be very dated and needed an uplift. Best bit was the 4D show. Fortunately we didn’t have to pay on our visit through my friends staff discounts but there is no chance this is worth the entry fee.

Nice place to visit again. Bit expensive for what it is. Worth the experience. Ride the Hammerlund. Only place in NZ to do that.

Great experience either as a specific destination or as something really interesting to do if you are waiting for a flight. Really well put together and highly recommended. Take the Haglund - just don't sit right at the back!

We had a three hour wait between flights with our two toddlers, so this was a perfect time filler for our family. It was an easy 7 min walk from the airport to the Antarctic Centre and there was plenty to do - pats and cuddle with the huskies, watching penguins, Hagglund ride, 4D Extreme Theatre, experiencing an antarctic snow storm as well as grabbing a bite to eat. Another 7 min walk back to the airport and we were ready to board our next flight.
