Visting this restaurant on our last leg of our trip around South Island, wanted to find something special and not too pretentious. We luckily stumbled upon the Permit Room as we felt like a light Indian dinner and found them on Google with 4.4+star reviews.
The place is located in town, even before entering the restaurant you can sense the care in the decor and fittings; we were prepared for a nice meal. Being Summer sunset in Christchurch is late.
We were seated at a nice table and admired the wooden and marble textures inside the restaurant. The music was unintrusive and relaxing; jazzy tunes. The smells coming from the kitchen were heavenly. The service, pleasant, polite and never in your face.
The food! Amazing, had a lentil cake entree, large potato dosa and coupled with a lychee and ginger cocktail. Everything tasted devine. Layers and layers of flavours wihtout being heavy. The portion sizes were also very generous.
