Met punctually and the day ran like clockwork. I learnt so much about the geology, history and ecology of New Zealand in a friendly enthusiastic team. A very special day and a fun time. Highly recommended.

Apart from dealing with the rush of people queuing for the cafe on the train we couldn't have asked for a better day at Arthur's pass.

A great hike with kids, stopping at all the right places, great lunch, tea by the river and Andrew's years of experience in the trade stood out for us as one of the most memorable things we've done.

Thank you Andrew!

My wife and I were treated to a wonderful one-day tour of Arthur's Pass and other nearby sights with Andrew as our guide. Even though it rained steadily for much of the tour, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, due in large part to the magnificence of the scenery and Andrew's skillfullness as a guide. He provided all the rain gear we needed as well as walking poles (we are both pretty fit, but being in our 60s having the poles made us feel safer) and was good at sensing when we might need a rest. Andrew also has a very affable, gregarious personality, which put us at our ease throughout the roughly 10 hours we were with him. The views from the Tranzalpine train on our way to Arthur's Pass was also a treat (Andrew picked us up at our B&B and took us to the train, then he met us with his van when we arrived). Thankyou Andrew and Loyld for the best day and of course you organized the terrific weather too! Previous posts say it all beautifully but I just wanted to add a different perspective to the international travellers.
We are a kiwi family of 4 (daughter 22yrs, and son 19yrs) living in Oz and know the Arthur's Pass area, had a hire car and could have easily done the trip ourselves - however- the great plus's are the train trip for us (son slept the whole way!) and Andrew and Loyld's iconic Kiwi friendliness, humor and of course excellent knowledge of everything you see.

Anyone with kids know how much better infomation is received by a (paid) stranger than by boring old parents and that is one of the main reasons we decided to go with HikingGuys. As young adults our two really enjoyed the day and the engaging way of Andrew and Loyld, as well as our fellow English and Japanese travelers too. Van trip back was fabulous for photo stops, more cat naps to last for New Years Eve and not to forget NZ's greatest Split Enz on the ipod to top it off. (our request) I will be recommending this trip to everyone heading to Christchurch.

A beautifully organised day out with stunning scenery, great information chats along the walk. The guides were genuinely lovely and interesting people. The lunch was plentiful with fresh ingrediants, the hike was done at a pace that suited everyone in our varied group. Whilst I know the day has been done many times before by the guides, there was no hint of it being a repeat or formulaic. It simply couldn't have been better.
