As an IHG member I’ve stayed in many of their hotels worldwide and found Crowne Plaza Christchurch to be small, comfortable, & central, however there are a few hiccups to be ironed out to make it great.
PROS
- central to good bars and restaurants
- great beds and pillows
- excellent shower and shower pressure
- good mini bar and room service
- excellent wifi
- good choice of TV channels
- suites are very spacious
- parking available
CONS
- parking could use an undercover entrance/access into the hotel. It was pouring rain when we arrived and not only were we drenched from car park to reception, the parking lot is unpaved and was full of water-filled potholes and impossible to roll your luggage
- we waited 15 minutes at the bar without service before leaving
- our room (suite on lvl 5) must have been near a service closet because from 8am on Sunday morning we heard staff banging around closing doors constantly, which meant we couldn’t sleep well into our planned late checkout

Right in the heart of the city. Many historical sights including the hole where the cathedral once stood. All restaurants and sights within walking distance. Modern hotel. Free wifi. The pillow spray is a unique amenity.

What a fantastic weekend in Christchurch made so by the friendly and excellent facilities of Crowne Plaza Hotel. Excellent rooms, plenty of space and superb value for money. Location is amazing right close to the new shopping and dining extravanganza that has been built in christchurch, 15min walk to Hagley park and the list goes on.....I am going back end of September and have no hesitation to book again and stay at this fabulous hotel

Crowne plaza is centrally located in Christchurch with all city attractions within walking distance. Rooms are spacious with a glass wall bathroom. Try to get a room with a view to the mountains as it's quite nice especially in the winter months with snow on the mountains. Buffet breakfast is very average for the high price with the same stuff everyday. The cafe downstairs is a good alternative for breakfast and much cheaper. For dinner there are much better places outside compared to the market place restaurant within the hotel. Reception staff are nice and friendly but not very experienced. As a gold IHG member, i am yet to be offered any benefits although i have been staying here on a weekly basis throughout July and August.

What a wonderful hotel. We have never stayed in such a new hotel. Wonderful service and right in the centre of things. Christchurch is being rebuilt and it is a very pretty place. The little trans are a great way to get an overview of the place and the tram driver gives the commentary. Easy to walk around and people are very helpful
