Description: Hans Herzog Estate is one of New Zealand’s most treasured, truly artisan wineries. Settled in 1994 in the heart of Marlborough within the most beautiful gardens Herzog’s offers casual luxury and indulgence for food and wine lovers. Unfettered by commercial considerations, the Herzog’s have adopted an experimentalist stance, cultivating an eclectic array of grape varieties all of them highly acclaimed wines rich in varietal character showing off the covetous terroir. The Estate’s iconic Gourmet Restaurant, casual Bistro, stylish Cellar Door and lovely Vineyard Cottage oozes European elegance and together with vivacious Therese’s and her team warm hospitality it really is a must visit destination!

Recommended by our host, the degustation menu was simply superb. Adding to our experience, our sommelier/maitre-d'hotel was efficient, charming and inconspicuous yet with polished service and swift attention.

While not inexpensive, for a once in a while fine-dining experience this is a must when in Marlborough.

Had a good meal at restaurant. Did the 5 course tasting menu and was full afterwards.

Atmosphere is lovely and service was very professional.

Was expensive, but no more than any of the other establishments on the same level in NZ.

Liked the a amuse bouche at beginning meal. Felt very European, but considering ownership that should not be unexpected.

Food was nicelly prepared and tasted good.

Was vey happy with experience here.

There are many things about Herzog restaurant that are faultless, including the dedicated staff, the researched menu, the beautiful setting and the obvious meticulousness that is behind this place. However, I could not help by feeling a sense of a clinical passion lurking in the background, as though the owner vision is so micro managed into reality that there is little room for any spontaneity to come through. Whilst the wine is certainly the result of a lot of effort I regret to say it was not the favourite to my own palate when compared to what the region has to offer. The degustation was sensational but overpriced and somewhat stuck in the 80s. This is one of those cases where the bad outsets the excellent.

We loved the Hans Herzog winery!

We booked in for the tour, although very short was extremely enjoyable. Stefan (?) was so passionate and knowledgeable his enthusiasm was outstanding and catching.

Now for the important bit, the wine and food - incredible! The wine tasting was the best we experienced in Blenheim, generous tastings, a great variety and so informative.

We had the chef's choice menu as a late lunch and it was outstanding. The food really was out of this world on a par with Michelin standard. Beef tartar, which is not one of my favorites to start, lamb fillet for main and a white chocolate and passion fruit cake and mouse for dessert. Each course was better than the last, the accompaniments were supreme and the wine was easily the nicest of any we tasted.

I recommended it to some friends who also loved it. If you are going to Blenheim do not miss Hans Herzog.
