“Charming accommodation and hosts”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

We stayed in The Old Dairy which was small but more than adequate for a two night stay. Everything is very clean, the bed comfortable and shower surprisingly powerful. The self service, continental breakfast was generous including eggs from the owners' chickens (one of whom came to visit us!) and homemade marmalade. Laundry facilities are provided at no charge as were use of a range of mountain bikes, two of which we used for a fabulous, sunny day touring the vineyards. Paul even selected the most appropriate bike sizes and pumped up the tyres for us. The solar heated pool with comfortable loungers was a great spot from where to watch the sun set over the neighbouring vineyard.
Everything about St Leonards is charming, relaxing and slightly eccentric. The English expat owners Daphne and Paul clearly love their land, livestock and lifestyle and it was a pleasure to have been part of it all for a couple of days during which the sun shone throughout.
Would both recommend and return.

This place is just awesome. We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed every minute, we just felt right at home. By far the best stay in our six week traveling around the amazing country of New Zealand.
Paul and Daphne are wonderful hosts, they are very helpful and know everything about what to do in the area, lots of the famous vineyards are very close. They provide a good breakfast what is left in the fridge.
We had the Shearers Quarters witch is very spacious and comfy. It's just next to a very nice vineyard. Wandering around the garden is a highlight there are big old trees, lemon, orange and grapefruit trees and not to forget the sheep. Just loved to sit in the middle of the garden. There also is a nice clean pool.
Will definitely return.

We stayed in the in the Cottage for 5 nights during our NZ road trip. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Vineyards, Picton, Nelson etc. The cottage is well equipped and clean and tidy, friendly hosts and neighbours, excellent views over the vineyard. Modern bikes and safety gear available to explore the area. Sheep, deer and chooks are in close proximity and you will have fresh eggs for breakfast! Not much going on in Blenheim so, in retrospect would probably not stay in the area for more that a couple of nights, fortunately The Cottage provided a comfortable and peaceful retreat to return to after our day trips.

We stayed in the Shearers Cottage for 4 nights. It was second stay there for us. We saw nice vineyard view from our room. How was lovely and peaceful scenery, very relaxed on our holidays.

I was woken by bird's singing every day and enjoyed watching beautiful sky with sunrise.
They provided us free range eggs, homemade jam ( marmalade was superb!), butter, bread and milk. Daphne is very kind and lovely host.
We enjoyed playing tennis, petenque and swimming. Also there was lots of fruit trees, so we picked up some lemons and oranges which guests are invited to do.

And also so close to all the Blenheim winery's. Fabulous place to stay!

This is special place to escape busy life style and definitely enjoy relax time!

We stayed in the Shearers Cottage with was very comfortable and spacious with all the facilities we needed for a comfortable stay. We were just beside one of the Withers Hill vineyards perfect for a visit to Marlborough. Daphne and Paul were very knowledgable and helpful hosts. We loved the free range eggs provided by them. We used the pool and the laundry facilities which are ideal if you are on a long trip. Would especially recommend this property for couples and definetly for families

We stayed 2 nights in the Shearers cottage. I'd say this is perfect size for 2 people, it will accommodate 3 but that might get a bit tight. Beds and furniture are all very comfortable. The main road isn't too far off but didn't even hear it. The hosts are extremely friendly but not overwhelming (they leave you to your space). We were supplied with fresh eggs, some jams, cereal, milk, and juice for our breakfast - self catered so you make what you want. We got wifi in our room, freeview for TV, and heat pump for cool mornings or hot afternoons. Pool area is nice as well but don't expect to be doing laps (enough to cool off).

Great location if you are in the area for the wine tasting and not too far from town (either of them). Also very close to Rock Ferry winery and restaurant (another top recommendation).

Very tidy and clean with the exception of the bathroom ceiling (lots of dead bug carcasses - not sure why they haven't got to cleaning them off).

If you are looking to stay in the region for a few days I'd highly recommend this place (and even if you will stay longer, try a large cottage). Have a look at the web site, this represents the place very well.

If I stay in Blenheim area again, this is where it will be.
