“Could have stayed longer”
Reviewed February 4, 2012

We stayed at the cottage at St Leonard,s. The cottage was well-equipped , spacious and homely.. It is on a quiet lane in between Blenheim and Renwick. We took advantage of free loan of bikes to cycle to nearby wineries including Cloudy Bay. We followed it with a stroll around the garden. Perfect day. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Excellent eggs for breakfast. We could ahve stayed longer.

We stayed in the Old Dairy across from the main house for two wonderful nights and really enjoyed our stay. We were only supposed to stay for one night but we liked the place so much we extended - which says a lot! The hosts are brilliant and made us feel at home straight away by giving us a tour of their lovely grounds. We felt like part of the family. It's a great location in the middle of the vineyards and a real treat if you've been staying at backpacker lodges. Great for a romantic break and would recommend to all. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We stayed in "The Cottage" - a delightful detached cottage with vineyard views in the lovely gounds of St Leonards that included a swimming pool, boules, gardens and animals. The cottage itself is very comfortable with lots of character and everything you need. Breakfast food/drink is provided and we used the BBQ to make dinner on the deck. Our favourite place of the trip.

I stayed in the Old Dairy cottage for 2 nights. It is the smallest cottage just across the main house, separated by the driveway. The cottage is ideal for 1 person or a couple. The room has a bed (queens size? king size?), a dining table in the corner and a small kitchen. There is not much space for luggage, and there is no wardrobe in the room, just hooks and hangers on the wall. The bathroom is small (shower only) but very nice. The whole cottage is very cozy and clean.
There is a laundry facility in the main house (room with a separate entry so you don't have to disturb the owners). The owners are very nice and friendly.
The compound has also enclosures with sheep, horses, deer, hens.... Overall, it all feels very homely, and I can just confirm other travellers' reviews. I would recommend this B&B.

We just stayed one night in the Old Dairy, but is was very nice. A really quiet little place between the vineyards. You can use the bikes to explore the area and do some wine tastings. The hosts are very friendly and the beds are very comfortable. We would recommend St. Leonards Vineyards Cottages to anyone!

One night turned into two and could have easily turned into three had we not already made previous arrangments. The Old Dairy felt like our own little home away from home, and we loved the idea of self catered brakfast so we could eat when and what we wanted. The fresh eggs and home made preserves are a special added touch! The owners/host are so welcoming and helpful, and so relaxed and down to earth. It's also in the perfect location for exploring the wineries.

We stayed in the Stables cottage which was unsurprisingly a converted stable block. Very comfortable and next to a small lemon orchard filled when we were there with sheep and rather cute lambs. Despite there being a few properties in the grounds the cottage was completely private. Inside had everything we needed - bathroom had a shower only (no bath).

Great location for wandering around the wineries. We borrowed some foc bicycles from the delightful Paul and Daphne and cycled to Allan Scott's for a very good lunch. Then crossed the road to try out the famous Cloudy Bay winery which was every bit as good as it's reputation (amazing how friendly everyone was there - in England, a firm with as famous a name as Cloudy Bay would be adding all kinds of pretentious rubbish to a visit, not charging you a chance to try 6 great wines for £2.50....). It work out at about a 4 mile circuit on the bikes with only one road with anything like serious traffic on it. Blenheim while small has some good restaurants (we ate at Raupo and Rocco's which were both good).

In short, a much superior experience to a hotel and perfect for wine-lovers.
