Description: Marlborough has a special place in the hearts of the Giesen brothers. To celebrate this, and the wines they create, in late 2011, 30 years after their arrival in New Zealand, they opened a Cellar Door in the heart of the region's wineries. Situated in the midst of vineyards on Marlborough's golden mile this characterful building captures the Giesen Brothers spirit of hospitality, giving visitors a place to experience a taste of Giesen, and learn about their winemaking. Also as a special treat, visitors can taste some back vintages or trial wines thanks to the Enomatic wine dispensing system. In addition Guests can kick back and relax with a glass of Giesens wine and a platter of regional treats in the charming courtyard.

This place is awesome. We had a nice tasting, wicked platter (the brats platter was mint too) and great service. They were very accommodating to my 15 month old. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

As a local I come here for lunch a couple of times s month. Usually we share the harvest platter -$26 for 2 people. Excellent value and features local produce. If you are looking for wine tasting it is also great as it is free and the wine is excellent value per bottle. Only bad thing is in the winter it can be chilly if you eat outside. Definately recommend for local produce and excellent value.

Have had a couple of wine tastings here and the staff are helpful & knowledgeable. Lunch menu is limited but nice with soups, platters and a hotpot plus a couple of desserts. We shared the Kumera, coconut & ginger soup which had a lovely flavour but the texture was grainy. Shared harvest platter- was very nice with a good selection of local produce. Excellent, friendly service. If you are looking for tastings and some fuel to keep you going this is a good place to stop. Top class wines. Worth stopping for is the building which has some awesome features both in and out and would be fabulous as a large home (Italian/Spanish) style-the courtyard is beautiful and we will visit again in summer!

I popped into the Giesen Cellar Door whilst on a wine-tasting odyssey in Marlborough with my parents and 80 year old great aunt. The British lady who was manning the bar was so lovely that we decided to stay for food after tasting a variety of different wines, and we were definitely not disappointed. We all found a variety of wines that we loved, spent quite a while narrowing it down to two bottles to have with our lunch and ended up buying several more bottles to take home (and to drink throughout our trip!). The setting was beautiful- I'm a red head so we stayed inside out of the sun, but looking out onto the vineyards and the lovely courtyard that they have. The food was lovely- we had two different styles of lunch platter and they tailored the second one for my mum as she has a lactose allergy. All in all a lovely way to spend a few hours and if I didn't live on the other side of the world I'd be back in a shot. Luckily Giesen wines have started appearing on the shelves here now so that I can get my fix!
