“Excellent - highly recommended”

We stayed one night at Paulette's and John's fantastic B&B. Highly recommended. Great rooms (especially the King room with the balcony), nice, friendly and service minded owners and great location. We rented bikes (at the B&B) and visited the vineyards just next to the B&B. In the evening we had a fantastic dinner together with the owners. Paulette is a fantastic cook and John's wine cellar is tempting. We would certainty like to come back. Thank you Paulette and John for running such a nice place.
Greetings
Lone & Henrik, Denmark

We travel a lot and have stayed in B&Bs / Homestays in countless places.

We stayed with John & Paulette at Stonehaven on 8th and 9th February 2013, and the standard achieved here matched our previous favourite at White Park Bay in Northern Ireland.

The location was stunning, our accommodation (complete with balcony offering superb views across the valley) was faultless, and the comprehensive breakfasts the perfect way to start each day. But most of all our hosts made the visit special with their genuinely welcoming style, and their ability to make you feel part of the "family" of guests staying at Stonehaven. Not an easy task when dealing with strangers, but they managed it with aplomb!

Thanks to both of you for making our stay special.

Imagine going home to the perfect mum and dad for the weekend...... that is mum and dad with a comfortable, stylish house in the middle of a vineyard, great breakfasts and home baked goodies, unconditional love with no pressure or expectations and plenty of time to chat ....... well that's pretty much what you get with John and Paulette.

Lots of nice wineries nearby too.

I can't write my review, because Michael L. beat me to it. The place is so comfortable and inviting, you just don't want to leave. And what a breakfast! Spent so much time gabbing about our mutual interests, we only had time for 1 winery visit. It was still a perfect end to our trip, as I wasn't all that impressed with the knowledge of the greeter at Cloudy Bay, or with the new sauvignon blanc.

As Lowri H says below, John & Paulette strike the perfect balance between entertaining and respecting your privacy.

It was like staying with very good friends with a beautiful breakfast, great attention to detail and excellent facilities. It's hard work being in the people business, but they don't show it as they're excellent listeners, treating us as if we were their first ever guests. Their home are garden are delightful.

They shared their local knowledge of a fantastic area and recommended an excellent restaurant that we probably wouldn't have found ourselves. Didn't have time for the bike and motor bike hire, but it's a good touch.

We had an amazing time touring South Island.

Stonehaven was the icing on the cake.

Our stay at Stonehaven couldn't have been better. John and Paulette are brilliant hosts - striking a perfect balance between entertaining and welcoming you to their home and respecting your privacy. The evening meal that Paulette prepared was superb, perfectly complimented by wine carefully selected and presented by John. Breakfast was a real treat - I've been home a week and i'm still craving John's rhubarb compote! The bike hire is a real bonus - a perfect way to explore the amazing array of vineyards in the area. Thank you for a fantastic time!

I just finished my third stay at Stonehaven. As usual it was amazing. Paulette continues to provide an amazing breakfast and evening meals if you care to dine with her and John. I never go to restaurants in Blenheim as Paulette's culinary skills are unmatched in the area. John continues to share his wealth of knowledge about all things wine. I cannot wait until I can return again. John and Paulette continue to maintain a truely professional operation with special touches, while never losing sight of personal relationships important in their industry. A GEM amongst the wineries!!!!

Room Tip: The large King Room is my favorite. The view from the balcony is post card worthy!
