We first came here in 2011 and when it came to arranging the inevitable 2nd trip to New Zealand the first place we booked was Antria Lodge.
Phil & Kathryne take hospitality very seriously and manage to combine quality accommodation and service with treating you like a best friend come to visit. This year Phil went well beyond the call of duty by giving us a lift both to the Marlborough Wine Festival and back again which meant a dry day for him!
I have no idea when we will next travel half way around the World for a holiday but I do know where we will be staying.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms so be quick and book one of them.

Thank you for your review and thanks for coming to stay with us for the second time. You certainly made the most of the weekend and will be looking to get Corporate tickets like you did next year. keep drinking our NZ wine over there although I'm sure you need no encouragement. A special thank you for taking us into our second 100 Tripdvisor reviews and it is great for it to be from a guest that has had a great experience not just the once but twice, Enjoy the rest of 2014

Our stay at Antria was marvelous.
Arrived on a sunny afternoon in February and was meet by Phil. He showed us our room which was airy and quiet and had a very nice bathroom.
He also showed us the shared facilities which included a fridge, free cookies, all-day coffee and tea, a living room with nice chairs, books, television and a fine collection of art.
Then a complementary bottle of wine was offered. We enjoyed that at the sunny table outside our room.
In the evening Phil drove us to our diner restaurant at no extra charge.he also gave us the number to a reliable taxi driver who brought us home late in the evening.
The next day we met Kathryne - a warm and friendly woman who prepared an excellent breakfast. We mentioned that we had admired the various art in the living room she told us that she was the art collector and that she had bought it both locally and overseas. As my husband is painting we gave her a link to a an internet-page where she could take a look at his paintings.
Then Phil took us on a tour to some wineries in the area - must do if you go there as he know all the interesting places. For instance we visited the Yealands Estate with a fantastic view over the bay and chicken among the grapes AND soft music in the chicken houses. He also took us to a nice restaurant for lunch.
In the evening Kathryne prepared a very tasteful platter with local products (cheese, pate etc.) at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed that together with a complimentary bottle of wine sitting in the evening sun outside our room.
The next morning she told us that she was very impressed with my husbands pictures and would like to buy one - a picture that in both her and our opinion show the essence of Antria e.g. Sunny colours, walls, chicken and a garden. After our return to Denmark we have shipped the selected painting and if you ever come to Antria (you must - Kathryne and Phil and Antria are so amazing) you will see the painting in the entrance hall.
We felt so sorry to leave and would love to come back one day but are so happy that my husbands painting has found a good "home away from home".

We had a lovely weekend in Blenheim for the St Clair Vineyard Half Marathon. Antria is a lovely place to stay and quite intimate as they only have two rooms. The grounds are unique and the facilities were lovely.
Our hosts Phil and Kathryne made our stay - they went out of their way to help us during the weekend.

Fab place to stay - would absolutely stay there again.

Just a fantastic place to stay, and one of the highlights of our trip. A very cool, purpose-designed B & B, right in the middle of the wine country, with the best hosts around. Kathryne and Phil are a blast, and they might just cook you a soufflé omelette that will blow your socks off - so secure them with rubber bands before you go to breakfast. The room was fantastic. The art is delightful. There is a wonderful community living area with a fireplace and one of the largest movie collections you will see (though we didn’t have time to watch one). Phil can provide a fine Marlborough wine-tasting tour. If you need directions to the Queen Charlotte Drive, they are happy to accommodate. Kathryne will make you feel like you live there. Phil will answer all your questions without a trace of irony. Wish we’d stayed longer. We took only fond memories, recipes and fudge wrapped in a napkin; we left only footprints…

And, if you’re early and veeeery quiet, you just might catch Phil in his pajamas. (We promise we won’t tell _____.)

My best friend and I stayed at Antria to experience New Zealand's wine country. The hosts made our stay so amazing, we didn't want to leave!

When we arrived in Blenheim and picked up our rental, the representative asked us why we were staying "so far from everything". Let me assure you, Antria is amazingly well placed as a central base from which you can experience everything the Marlborough region has to offer. The hosts are happy to provide you with a history of each winery, as well as driving directions, to help you decide which will best suit your needs.

The hosts, Phil and Katherine, make sure every detail is covered and every experience memorable as they open their doors to you. Plan on being greeted like you have been away for ages and they are just so happy to see you again... with one of the most welcoming hugs ever. They are very well suited for hospitality as they are truly pleased to have you there.

The property is well maintained, but nothing compared to the comfort, tranquility, and beauty of the rooms and the house. We actually cancelled a dinner we planned the trip around to spend more time visiting with them and the other guests one evening. They graciously offered their barbeque and we all chipped in with meal time offerings. And the breakfasts? Oh my goodness the breakfasts. We did not have need to eat lunch once while we were there as the breakfasts were hearty enough to serve as a main meal to last the day. The kitchen is well used and the food just amazing... again, because the hosts put their hearts into what do for each and every guest.

I would plan a vacation specifically to return to Antria... and enjoy the rest of the region surrounding it.

This is a great place stay - very comfortable beds, spacious, very good breakfast and good location, right in the middle of some lovely small vineyards - but it would be nothing without the charming and very welcoming hosts - Kathryn and Phil - Phil met us at Picton and took us on a great day around the vineyards. Kathryn greeted us at the house and give us a wonderful welcome.

Room Tip: There are only 2 - I do not think it matters which

We have just returned from the most relaxing holiday we have experienced. Phil and Kathryne are the perfect hosts, they are both very friendly, generous and caring people who manage to convert the running of a business into a lifestyle. The warmth and welcoming nature of their initial greetings gave us an insight into what our stay may be like, and the next five days confirmed this. The meals were exceptional, and the evenings spent sitting around "Little Toot" - the outside fire - enjoying the local wines with Kathryne and Phil and our fellow guests will remain in our memories forever. Antria's location proved ideal, right in the heart of the wineries, close enough to Blenheim for easy access for dinner, and within easy driving distances of other scenic locations such as Nelson, Picton and Kaikoura. We loved Antria and Kathryne and Phil, and recommend this as an ideal holiday location.
