We stayed at Ryland Estate for two nights with my husband's parents and our two young children. It's a beautiful rural retreat and the perfect base for exploring the region.

The apartment is very tastefully furnished with good, spacious bedrooms and a great library of books - there were even some children's toys which our girls loved (although not as much as running around under the sprinklers in the beautiful gardens!). Peter and Trish are friendly and accommodating hosts, without being at all intrusive - the perfect balance. We had wonderful breakfasts with fresh eggs, and in the evening Peter gave us a selection of produce fresh from the veggie patch.

Rylands was a real highlight of our travels in New Zealand. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a relaxing stay at Ryland Estate. Excellent rural retreat in beautiful garden setting. We enjoyed the ambiance of a beautiful bed sitting room and the extension to the garden via covered patio. Trish's breakfast was a tasty, fresh delight, Would recommend this property.

We spent three nights at Rylands, whilst exploring the Marlborough region and Queen Charlotte Sound. Perfect place to stay with welcoming hosts and excellent facilities. The breakfasts supplied by Trish were outstanding, in particular the fruit from their own orchards.

We spent three days in Ryland Estate and experienced what we found to be true in most places in New Zealand: people are extremely friendly and considerate. This was the case also with Trish and Peter whose hospitality was far more that we usually experience especially in Europe: the breakfast was wonderful especially the fresh fruit from the own garden were exceptional, the large guest room with a patio almost luxury, and the location perfect, especially for us who decided to dine in the Herzog restaurant, just a 10 minute walk across the garden and the vineyards. All in all one of the highlights of our two week vacation in New Zealand.

We spent 1 night at Ryland Estate after a few days of sailing in the Marlborough sounds and a full day of wine tasting.

We were welcome with a large bowl of fresh fruits picked from the estate (cherries, apricots and lemons) which we enjoyed with the wines and cheeses purchased during the day in the garden in front of the cottage.

The room was very cosy, the fridge well stacked with, among other things, fresh grounded coffee and afternoon cookies.

In the morning, Peter prepared us a copious breakfast including eggs and fruits from the farm and homemade marmelade.

We had a very relaxing time there and felt welcome.

My criteria for visiting the Marlborough Wine Region was to stay amongst the vineyards & not in a faceless motel - Ryland Estate supremely ticked the box. Run by Peter & Trish, Peter especially was the most genial of hosts, helpful in every way. Before booking, I had been a little confused about the area.....Blenheim.....Renwick.....Marlborough - what were the distances, where should we stay? Well I shall tell you: nowhere is any great distance, so stay at Ryland Estate surrounded by orchards & vineyards with a beautiful garden to boot!

On our whirlwind trip of New Zealand we spent two nights at the Ryland Estate. The rain clouds that prefaced our arrival parted and we had two days of sunshine in a beautiful, tranquil environment.

Staying in The Barn, Peter and Trish were perfect hosts. Peter and I had much in common; an interest in the Second World War - The Barn has a library of books that if you stayed there from now until kingdom come, you'd only be halfway through - and also a love of rugby. Peter went the extra mile and registered for the Rugby Channel specifically so I could get up at 3 a.m. and watch England versus Australia.

The Ryland Estate is set in beautiful countryside close to the Wairau River and is a fruit estate, a pleasant change from the acres of adjoining vineyards. Their gardens are stunning and entice you to walk around in a tranquil environment viewing the borders, the vegetable garden and the fruit orchard beyond.

Apart from rugby and warfare, Peter is also a Mastermind on the vineyards of the area and of course very knowledgeable on where to eat once the day is done.

We were glad to stay with you Peter and Trish - thank you for your hospitality.
