From the moment Karen picked us up from the Blenheim airport on that sunny warm January morning, we knew immediately that it was going to be a wonderful experience and that we were in very capable, super friendly, and knowledgable hands.
Karen took the time to understand what we hoped to get out the day, what types of wine we liked, and were there specific wineries that were absolute musts for us (ahem...Cloudy Bay) and she was able to put together a perfect day-long itinerary which hands down is the absolute best wine tasting tour I've ever experienced (and I've done many). Karen also helped us select which wineries we should visit based her own personal experiences, after having lived in the area for more than a decade, which certainly made it easier to narrow down our list (we managed to squeeze in quite a lot visits to wineries big and small). Every winery was different from the next and with each we got to know a about its origin and other pieces of info that would have been missed without having our own personal guide for the day. Sitting outside in Marlborough eating a wonderful lunch with locally sourced ingredients was certainly one of the many highlights of the day. We shockingly even fell in love with a few Chardonnays and Rieslings which blew my mind (we're major Sauv B snobs).
Do yourself a favor book with Explore Marlborough Wine Tours for a wine tour you will never forget. Marlborough is an absolute must for anyone that visits New Zealand, my only regret is not having a second day to experience even more of the such a picturesque wine region.
