Will and bus picked up the 21 members of our Probus group and we drove to Mt Vernon where there is a wonderful 360 degree view. Mt Tapuaenuku ( 9.465 ft ) showed up well to the SW.
From there eight of us walked down a series of ridges to the sea. Along the beach to an award winning garden with a vista between some small trees to the sea.
The bus with the balance of our party collected us and took us to an historic cemetery and then on to Peter Yealand's winery. There we were able to taste a wide varieties of wine
Back to the motel at 5.30 pm

This was our 1st Probus group tour and proved to be very exciting in many different ways. With older clientele it's always a challenge to find something new and yet stimulating to extend their knowledge been familiar with the environment. Thank you for your compliments.

A wonderful evening kayak trip down the Opawa to the Wairau Lagoon with an excellent host whose enthusiasm for the ecology of this region is outstanding. The return trip up river into the darkening night was beautiful, although the total trip was quite long [approx 4 hours]. A bonus was the pre-kayak walk to observe a Harrier hawk nest with chicks [cute mega-ugly].

It was great to share our new harrier chicks on the wetland prior to our departure. As my tours are tailored to the clients sometimes they extend beyond the 4 hours but the rewards are worth it.

What a wonderful time of day to be kayaking on the beautiful Opawa. Not only did we enjoy seeing many bird species but the light on the Wither Hills, cloud formations and the local flora would delight an artist's eye. An opportunity to take some spectacular photos.
Will has extensive knowledge not only of the wildlife but also of the area's history which adds another dimension to this trip.
I recommend Will's homemade muffins, yum!

This tailor-made tour which Will put together was full of variety. He drove us in a four-wheel drive vehicle from Blenheim to Rainbow and through Molesworth and St James Stations, with an overnight stop at Hanmer Springs where we enjoyed a soak in the hot pools. Our plan to spend time in the Clarence Reserve, which was going to be the highlight of our trip on the second day, was thwarted by the weather but Will was able to show us enough of this DOC Reserve for us to promise ourselves a return trip. We contented ourselves instead with the sites of Kaikoura and wine tasting in Marlborough. Will was always professional and attentive to our comfort; he produced memorable snacks and lunches in remote and spectacular hill country, he was a good storyteller and knowledgeable about the areas' history and environment. Always enthusiastic and flexible, Will reacted quickly and positively with alternative ideas when the weather forced us to change our plans.

I shared a double kayak with my husband to paddle down the Opawa River. We had viewed the river from on land at the lagoons but being actually on the water was wonderful. The eveining was calm and the birds on the sandbanks were great up close.
Will set the scene before we started and was a good "host " and guide.
I would recommend anyone to go on one of Will's tours and I am sure that they will not be disappointed.
