Owner description: "This will possibly be the most fun you will ever have on a bike" The beautiful thing about Renwicks' cellar doors is that not only are they so incredibly close to us, and each other (the first one is literally 2 minutes from our front gate), but biking around them is really easy, even for those who haven't been on a bike for ages :-) We have a number of bike paths and quiet roads to ride on, you don't need to book an appointment ahead of time to do a tasting session with them like you do in other countries, and the cellar door teams are happy to answer any questions you may have about growing wine in Marlborough and also the wine they have on offer at the cellar door. You have the complete freedom to choose for yourselves which of the 17+ cellar doors you would like to visit and we are on hand to help you decide who they will be based on what wines you like, how far you are happy to bike and where you fancy stopping for lunch. Your time on the bikes is self-guided/unguided because we want you to be able to just take it easy, go at your own pace, visit to each cellar door for as long or as short as you want without feeling under pressure to keep up with anyone else who may be starting at the same time as you. If you need us at all whilst you are out on the bikes, we are but a phone call away - as we have a full emergency backup service in place at all times. We take our host responsibility very seriously and want you, as well as everyone else around you, to stay safe. This is why we like to offer you FREE PICKUP AND DROP-OFF from your accommodation and that way you don't have to worry about drink/driving or risk riding out from Blenheim on the busy state highway 100km/h roads. Our package includes - a choice of step-through retro cruiser bikes, including tandems and trikes with baskets on the front, hi-vis helmets, panniers that carry 4 wine bottles, a bottle of spring water, detailed winery map plus the full emergency backup service. For those with families we have tow-alongs, trailers & child seats too if required (all free of charge). These are our pickup times, so that you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving:- Tour A Complimentary Pick-Up between 9.30am and 9.50am Briefing starts at 10.00am, tour ends at 3.15pm Drop-Off by 3.30pm Tour B Complimentary Pick-Up between 10.30am and 10.50am Briefing starts at 11.00am, tour ends at 4.15pm Drop-Off by 4.30pm Tour C Complimentary Pick-Up between 11.30am and 11.50am Briefing starts at 12.00pm, tour ends at 5.15pm Drop-Off by 5.30pm If you want to have some laughs and get the chance to sample some beautiful wine and food, just give us a call as we would love to help make it happen for you. Cheers Steve and Jo

Booked this in the Uk before departing as we fancied travelling through the vineyards without the worry of drink driving.
We had a fabulous day, despite the headwinds when returning at the end of the day.
You get picked up and taken to the company HQ in the middle of the vineyard area.
Here you are provided with your bike, inc helmet, for the day and then Nigel asks what wines you are looking to taste etc and provides an in depth knowledge of the different vineyards, tasting prices, where to have lunch and route maps with times and distcnaces to help you decide where to stop.
Then if you were to get any mechanical problems he is on hand to rescue you!
totally awesome day out - and the wines were great, hic

Nigel is easy going, fun and has a great sense of humor, and good, practical advice tailored to your wishes. We had perfect weather, and toured several wineries with a lazy, delicious lunch. The Kiwis and their land are the best, and bikes and wine make it even more over the top!

Such an amazing day. We had been looking forward to touring the wineries as soon as we had booked our trip, and wine tours by bike certainly did not disappoint. The pick up and drop off was so convenient. Nigel was extremely friendly and the personalised route and suggested vineyards and lunch stop off we're perfect. We booked on the all day tour in the winter season, and managed to make it to 9 different vineyards. It's pretty flat, and although some of the roads are 'main' roads, they're not overly busy. Excellent value for money. Cannot wait to do it again. I can't recommend bike tours by bike highly enough.

We had a fantastic day which was helped no end by Nigel's recommendations of which vineyards to visit and where to have lunch. His knowledge of the wines at each vineyard helped us to choose which ones we'd most like to see. Really good value for money and I would definitely recommend Nigel and Wine Tours by Bike - I hope we are lucky enough to visit Blenheim again one day and we'll definitely visit again!

After missing out on a wine tour in South Africa some months earlier we were determined to make sure we did one in NZ. We planned our route to stop over in Blenheim and chose Wine Tours By Bike after reading some of Nigel's excellent reviews. Oh ... and what could make cycling more fun than a few glasses of wine?? Well maybe slightly better weather, but neither us nor Nigel could do anything about that.

As promised we were picked up from our campsite and taken back to Wine Tours By Bike's base to get our bikes, helmets, water, wine carriers/panniers and our maps. Nigel has what is in principal a pretty simple business idea very well organised. You get everything you need for your trip along with some excellent advice on wine/vineyards. We're not hugely into our wines, but I'm sure if you were Nigel could point you in the right direction and answer any questions you had. We were just happy to visit the four vineyards he'd suggested and go and sample some of their wines. Each of the vineyards were different in their size and the wines they produced, which made the trip all the more interesting. At the time we went two out of the three tastings were free which saved us a few dollars.

As for the cycling ... well yes there is a bit of distance to do, but nothing too major. And besides if you get a nice day it's a great way to see the countryside. Unfortunately last September it was a little drizzly later in the day, plus a bit windy, so we had to push those pedals a bit harder, but this didn’t stop us having a fantastic time.

If you fancy a wine tour in Blenheim then why not do it the fun way on 2 wheels ... getting Nigel's expert knowledge to help you on your way.
