“Mountains and lakes galore”
Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

Miss the crowds consider visiting in the winter to find peace and tranquility. In our opinion spring, summer, winter or fall is a great time to visit the lake especially when you have a partially to full sun day. There are several walking paths in the area and with winter there is no need for concerns regarding the heat of the day. The beach and paths truly have a magical quality in the silence of winter. The snow capped mountains overlooking the lake, reflecting at times truly enhances the magic. Pack snacks, food and water you won't find much within several miles.

“Fascinating place & beautiful scenery”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Lake Manapouri is beautiful & we travelled over to Doubtful sound, which was an amazing day.
Interesting little township on the Lake - no ATM there, but a small general store & a great Inn for dinner.

“First trout in NZ”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Went fishing with Mike at Lake Manapouri and caught our first brown trout. And we had a string of hookups after that, several rainbows and a few more browns. Mike has a very comfy boat and has been living there long enough to tell you the history of Lake Manapouri. A short 45min scenic drive from Te Anau. Lots of bird watching, open spaces, friendly folks and nice walks. That's what I call off the beaten track.

“Fishing in Fiordland”
Reviewed August 18, 2009

Have no hesitations in going out with Phil on his comfortable boat in Lake Manapouri, he has over 40 years experience in this region and knows the lake like the back of his hand. We caught lots of fish in the morning and even visited the underground power station which was amazing.
I would highly recommend Phil and his charter boat to anyone seeking a little adventure in and around the region. Great company, competitive prices and a guide with a lifetime worth of experience. Priceless.
I'll be back next season for sure
