“memorable dining experience.”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

In March 2006 we were on a months tour of New Zealand. We arrived in Wellington after spending 2 weeks driving down through North Island from Auckland. We stayed overnight at the Duxton hotel as we were getting the ferry to South Island the next day.The receptionist at the hotel recommended Shed 5 if we liked fish.We didn't book but we were quickly shown a table. The tables were covered with white tablecloths, sparkling silverware and wineglasses. The atmosphere was relaxing with a great buzz of laughter and conversation coming from the surrounding tables. The waiter who looked after us was very friendly and helped us with our menu and wine choices. We had the Greenlipped mussels for starters they were huge and delicious,as was the main course and wine..That's nearly 7 years ago and it was one of our most memorable dining experiences we had in New Zealand.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone spending a night in Wellington.

Ps tripadvisor only has only a previous 12 month range in the drop down visit date choice hence the contradiction in visit date.

“Top Rate Experience”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Loved everything about our recent dinner at the Shed 5. Not an expansive menu but everything is cooked and prepared to perfection. Three of us ate dinners of the market fish, whole roasted snapper and chicken wellington. We all thought our dinners were a special treat. The ambiance is on the more casual side but the window seating offers a nice view of the dock and people passing by. Because of the high ceilings (it was a warehouse?) it was easy to carry on a dinner conversation and be able to hear one another. Though our waitress seemed very busy serving a mulitude of tables she still had the time to converse and answer our questions. Wish I lived in Wellington as this would become a regular stop for dinner. It was best of many excellent dining experiences as we traveled through New Zealand.

“Brilliant food on quayside”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

Our first night in Wellington and this looked interesting, because it was busy and in converted quayside shed. Got a table for 2 fairly quickly and the waitress was extremely attentive and very chatty. Wine choice was excellent and a variety of mains. We both had fish, a salmon and a fish of the day. Portion sizes were absolutely spot on - plenty of fish but not over-facing. Would certainly recommend this to others, especially if you like fish.

“What a find”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Stumbled on shed 5 by accident while strolling along the waterfront. Best food we ate in NZ. Huge menu choice, fantastic service and unbelievably good food, with wine to match. The pork belly and calamari entree is the stuff of dreams.

“Classy dockside eating”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Good food in a cool location. Shed 5 is a converted shed/warehouse on the docks in central Wellington. Not cheap but the service was good and the food excellent, particularly the fresh fish. We had a window table which was great for people-watching.
