“Great meal at little cost”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

KK Malaysian Rest in Ghuznee St, Wellington is a favourite of ours. We try to go there at least once a month. They have the best Laksa in town, so my husband says. I usually order the roti with Chicken Satays and their Wonton soup. All the meals are very reasonably priced, served quickly and are delicious. The restaurant is always busy, one of the most popular places for students or local takeouts. Would recommend phoning an hour beforehand and book a table, otherwise it is just the luck of the draw whether you get a table or not. Well worth the wait though, lots of places nearby to go have a drink while you wait for a table to come available. Usually only have to wait about 15 mins.

“Good meal, prices from the 80s...”

Where else can you buy a mammoth, tasty lunch for two for $27?

I had a crunchy beef dish with onions - the beef was perfect, although the sticky black sauce was too reliant on soy sauce. My other half reported her chicken and noodles were very good...

Friendly, pleasant service and not an empty table to be seen suggests that these folks know their business, and that locals know it...

“I have been a regular here for the past 4 years, always order the same dish; kungpaw chicken.”

I have been a regular here for the past 4 years, always order the same dish; kungpaw chicken. I always have it on takeaway though because the place is pretty small and always busy for dining in.

“No complaints here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

Got there early - thank goodness as it's small - seated right away. Service was quick, food was cheap (mains around $10NZ$ each) and tasty. Nasi lemak had rice, beef rendung, half a boiled egg, peanuts, chilli and cucumber but no fried anchovies however the beef rendung was tasty and the portion generous. The roti chanai included 2 pieces of roti and chicken curry with a large piece of boneless chicken and potatoes. Our children liked the satays and roti. Our daughter commented the peanut sauce actually seemed to have been made out of real peanuts as a starting point. The service was very good. Our son dropped his spoon and fork on the floor and the waitress noticed and replaced them immediately. If we lived in Wellington this would definately be a favorite. Cheap and cheerful. Only slight issue was that the takeaway customers have no area to wait in so stand outside or inside where there is very little room.
