“Meals were ok but heavy food and no veggies.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

We had the fish pie and the risotto. The fish pie was good but really heavy and creamy. It would have been very much improved with a little salad on the side to cut all that stodge. The same can be said of the risotto. It reads on the menu like it is full of veg, but actually it isn't and tasted more of mushroom than aubergine. The flavour was lovely but it really needed something with it, not simply a big plate of risotto. IF we had known what the meals were like we would have ordered one of the above and a salad, and shared them both. So in short if you want a very heavy meal and you do not like veggies then this is perfect, if not then order a salad. PS their eggs and breakfasts looked great.

“Loved it!”

Simple food prepared superbly. Yum! Loved the brown sugar pavlova with rhubarb and passion fruit. Great waitress provided excellent yet unobtrusive service. Only wish I had more New Zealand currency left so I could have eaten more!

“Afternoon tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

There are many places in Wellington that promote high tea. For those that haven't been, it is a costly, three tier offering of (mainly) miniature slices, scones etc, served with a pot of tea of your choice (and champagne for the more adventurous). Yesterday we decided to finish off our working week a little differently with an afternoon tea (not high tea). We meandered around Cuba St looking for a place and were disappointed with the choices available to us. We walked up Cuba St and popped into Floriditas to see what they had to offer and and weren't disappointed. They had a great selection of cakes on the counter and we were greeted with warm friendly smiles as soon as we walked in. We were spoilt for choice. There were coconut and plum macaroons, portugese egg tarts, round donuts infused with custard, slices to name a few. Nothing was miniature in size thank goodness. The service was friendly, decor stunning, cakes scrumptious and the whole experience relaxing and unpretentious. We have been here for brunch and dinner and never been disappointed; now they are top of our list for afternoon tea. The portions are triple the size of what is served at a high tea, the selection far nicer and different and at a fraction of the cost. If you have a sweet tooth then head to this restaurant for a very pleasant afternoon tea. You won't be disappointed.

“Smart dining without pretension”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

Fresh, tasty food - simple but innovative and cooked to perfection. No vegetarian option on the "main plates" section of the menu, but more than compensated for by the pasta, risotto and dishes from the entree, extras and cheese sections. A great wine list too!

The service was friendly and attentive, without being claustrophobic, the atmosphere was warm and lively and the surroundings chic.

Was my second visit in as many months and it did not disappoint on return.

“Quality”

Consistently high quality stylish food - one of my favourite places to go. Love it. The menu is quirky and different and the cakes to die for.
