“One bedroom apartment? NO DOOR!”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

As a an adult daughter and Mum with ... snoring issues ... we need accommodation with a separate bedroom when we travel, which is why we booked a one bedroom apartment at Stratford on Willis. I phoned to double check, explaining the issues, and was told there was a queen bed in the bedroom, and a single bed in the lounge. So, we were pretty annoyed to discover upon arrival that there was NO DOOR between the "bedroom" and lounge, and no bed in the lounge. This was NOT a one -bedroom apartment, it was a studio apartment for the price of a one bedroom apartment, although the girl on the desk kept insisting it was "one bedroom". Furthermore, to get from the lounge to the bathroom, you had to go through the alcove that had the bed in it. We did get most of our money back from Wotif, although were charged a $25 admin fee, and ended up staying in single rooms at the YHA as everywhere else was full. This was a one night trip away, and I had spent a lot of time carefully selecting what looked like a really nice place to stay, so we were very disappointed that the accommodation we booked weeks ago was based on false advertising.

Room Tip: A one bedroom is an open plan studio plan apartment for the price of a one bedroom. If you need a se...

We booked 2 x one bedroom apartments, and they were ideal for us, nice and clean, tidy and warm. The apartments are just around the corner from Dixon St, then onto Courtenay Pl and Cuba St, and the other way just minutes from Lambton Quay and the waterfront. We would definitely stay there again.

I booked a one bedroom apartment here for 2 weeks. I have to say I was really impressed with the space and how clean the place was. Was perfect for me and would be great for a couple too. Was able to cook dinner most nights for myself and save a few dollars. I booked the stay and save which is for people who stay for a longer period. It was very reasonably priced. I was a little disappointed that I had to pay for internet if I wanted it ($20 a day for 100MB or $60 for week for 100MB a day) and also for additional things like washing machine powder. I had no problems having my room not serviced, but having to pay for the things to help them out like dishwashing liquid and dishwashing powder (you only get one of each!). Service was great when they were there but the reception hours are limited and it is hard to get anything when they are not there (like toilet paper!). Despite these things though I had a great stay and was really comfortable. It is right in the middle of town so it is easy to walk everywhere. I would totally recommend staying there.

Room Tip: If you do not like street noise then ask for a room at the back - i had one at the front and heard n...

I was here for three nights and was very happy with it. It was conveniently located for the conference I was attending nearby. Everything was spotlessly clean, including the bathroom. Bed warm and comfortable. All the equipment you would wish for (iron, ironing board, washing machine, microwave, fridge, TV with Sky etc etc). Very reasonable price booked through wotif.

I had only one small gripe and that was the silly bell-ringing sound every time the lift arrives - this could be heard from inside my room. I do wish hotels wouldn't do this! It's totally unnecessary for lifts to ring bells; all it does is irritate and disturb people.

I would be very happy to stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay in that part of Wellington.

Room Tip: Rooms that look onto Willis Street (at the front) have a dismal view of an ugly carpark. The rooms l...

My sons and I stayed at the Stratford apartments for a weekend away in Wellington. We booked a room with three beds but got one with two twin beds and a pull-out sofa double. It was a clean, comfortable and friendly hotel, located right in the centre of Wellington. We had a good time. The hours when reception is open are quite short, though.

Clean tidy affordable. Good location with parking building across the street. Central to most things, easy walking distance to theatres, TePapa etc. Spotless clean, efficient service staff. One of teh better places Ive stayed. Would recommend and stay again. Spacious rooms, good bathroom. Quiet.

This accommodation cannot be faulted - Friendly receptionist with nothing too much trouble and when we asked for a missing dining chair it was sorted straight away. Amazing value for money at $99 per night for a 3 night stay in a studio apartment and the location couldn't be better. This was probably one of the best stays in Wellington we have ever had & we will certainly be back.
