Having taken the trouble to book ahead, and having reserved two tickets to a show at this theatre, we had assumed that two seats would have been allocated for us. Not so. In spite of being in the foyer at the point that the doors were opened for entry into the theatre, we were unable to find two seats together in the small auditorium. The best the staff could do was point out two very poor seats at opposite sides of the room from each other - not very useful for two people trying to enjoy a night out together.
When people book tickets to see a play as a group, it does not seem an unreasonable assumption that they want to see the play AS A GROUP. Booking in advance should, one would think, make this possible - after all, a theatre wouldn't sell you tickets to seats that aren't available, would it? And if your requested booking couldn't be filled, a professional theatre would inform you of that, right?
Don't count on it.
Bats ticket booking and seat allocation process leave a lot to be desired. If you want a night out with a friend or partner, don't count on Bats to make it happen - even if you have pre-booked. Try Circa or Downstage instead - much better organised and less likely to leave you wondering why you bothered. They did refund the ticket price, but we were left all dressed up with nowhere to go :(
