we booked our accommodation through the whatif site and it was a mystery booking, thank goodness it was Rydges (it used to be the Holiday Inn)We've stayed here about 4 times and every time has been great, some niggly bits but overall lovely. The rooms are tidy and clean and look nice. Great bathroom, not always a great view, this time we were looking at the post office building. Nice offices!!! Bought a bottle of wine to our room and there was no corkscrew, when hubby went down they tried to tell him there was one, nope there wasn't. It took a while for them to find one but it arrived at the door evenyually. Had a late check out time, a bit awkward coz we went for a walk after breakfast and were locked out of our room. Had to pop down and get another key so we could get our bags out of the room! We got 2 for 1 on breakfast and that was super, lots of choice and all well cooked, a bit crowded, we might have decided to come down to breakfast at the same time as everyone else. All together a lovely stay in a consistently good hotel.

Two days in Wellington on business was not only productive but I had some relaxing downtime. The room was comfortable and although the in-room heat pump was efficient it meant turning up the volume of the iPod dock. The dining was great, not only for breakfast where a omlette was no trouble at all. Dinner was a highlight with the selection of their Wellington on a plate main. All together a comfortable hotel with style and good taste.

Room Tip: Ask for the wireless voucher that will give you 20 minutes on-line. I tried the free city wireless...

What a beautiful and well presented Hotel. Top service, wonderful customer service from all the team, second to none, no hassles and so obliging. Our room was perfect, very modern and cosy.
We used the pool and spa very relaxing. We dined in the Restaurant "Portlander'; the food was excellent, beautifully presented and tasted superb! Compliments to the chef. I would highly recommend Rydges to anyone wanting top service, friendly staff and beautiful food. I recommend the Buffet breakfast! amazing.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaside room. Great views.

This is clearly a purpose built hotel. Recently built. The only down point was the room was freezing on arrival. This is extremely handy for the stadium. So, if your going there, this is the first good hotel. It's a little bit of a trek to the best pubs in Courtney Place. There are some great bars and restaurants a short walk away on the waterfront.

Stayed for 2 nights in a twin room with a cot. The room felt new, clean and had all the amenities we could need (including a microwave) and was quite roomy despite the addition of a rather large cot. The room service was also great and the location is central. Would definitely stay again. Great breakfast buffet.

we stayed for 2 nights, the kids loved the indoor pool and adored the breakfast-individual smoothies-nice touch..only comment the filter coffee machine has broken and no alternative offered other than to pay for Lattes, etc,This needs to change-we paid $28 for the buffet breakfast getting a coffee should be expected without extra payment? The new decor is the lobby and bar area is stunning and we enjoyed relaxing after a day exploring the city.Definetly recommend and become a rydges member to get Wifi at half price...

Great room on the 11th floor which had a fab view over the city below. Big bathroom with bath, ironing board and iron in room wardrobe, ready. Kitchenette, big room and very big comfortable king bed and a really lovely full breakfast with fruit, hot food, croissants, etc. No cappucino or lattes tho, just filter coffee machine. Good spot in town, walk to the wharf area. To arrive, got a shuttle bus there from the airport for $20 and around 20 mins. Would stay again except for $25 for wifi for 24 hours or 1gb download (which ever is first). Marked down for that due to the price you pay per night, really expect wifi, esp as a business targeted hotel.

Room Tip: 11th floor, had great views.
