Description: The simple things in life are often the best, so we thought why complicate things? If we could find a great place and add in the essential ingredients for a good time, like top class fare, a fine selection of beverages and impeccable service, we knew we could create something special. Thus the Spruce Goose was born. You'll find us on Moa Point Road overlooking the waters of Lyall Bay. We're open from 7am till late, so whether you're after a quick morning coffee, a late night knees-up or anything in between simply swing on in to the Spruce Goose. Because we'll be waiting with good food, good drinks and a big smile. See you soon.

This cafe has fantastic views. The coffee and food are great. Was full of young children and families so not the place to go for a quiet drink and chat. Slightly pricey

This is a relatively new restaurant on the coast. It has a great ambience and the best view. One is able to sit with a hot cup of coffee, glass of wine or a craft beer and look out over the Cook Straight. The beach has great surf and the surfers can been seen waiting for their next wave like black slugs lying on an azure foamy expanse.

The the coasts ruggedness is reflected inside with the restaurant's artwork. One can choose to sit upstairs, on the ground floor or sometimes brave the elements outside.

The food is good. I would recommend the tasting platters. They are bountiful and as the name suggests tasty.

Overall a great experience. I have now been a number of time and intend to go back.

Great place for coffee, drinks or meal. Good range of quality food on menu. Good, busy atmosphere but can also be quiet. Great view of Lyall Bay, airport, surfers - and South Island when you're lucky. Just on other side of road to beach. Staff skills a bit hit and miss, but generally friendly. Toilets are clean.

Have visited here twice for breakfast and both times were excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, the views great even on a wet cold day. The coffee is consistently good and the food that we have tried here, the big brekkie, pancakes, and the mince on toast have all been excellent. We will be returning.

Yesterday a friend took me here, and not only could we score a table with a window view of the south coast in Lyall Bay but the food was exceptional, and reasonably priced.
There was good variety of food
It's right across the road from the beach, so you can probably watch surfers during summer, and it means there is plenty of parking around it.
I had the fish of the day, with sale. It was very nice and a lot of it, so no qualms taking big eaters to this place. I couldn't finish my plate. They're also doing nice home-made soups, which were going down a treat yesterday in the 10 degrees temp.
Inside it was nice and warm, with a few quirky art pieces, newspapers and greet coffee!
Well worth the visit!
