Our recent stay here was in most respects, of the highest quality. We were upgraded on arrival to a two bedroom suite, which proved to be excellent.
Our views were of other buildings - but hardly surprising in a city centre hotel.
We did have a heart stopping moment when our hire car was being retrieved by the valet ,as it turned into the hotel with some serious damage that was new. The hotel driver was not at fault and the staff arranged a complimentary taxi for our evening in Upper Hutt; they also put in train the replacement car and that duly arrived the following morning. No hassle, just cool calm and efficient.
We dined in one evening, and found something of a weak spot here. The food was fine (although a bit pricey) but the service was rather too casual. Fine dining should be accompanied by fine service - in our view nothing else suffices. I think that it is also the view of the Michelin Red Guide.
Our time here was relatively brief but it was a very worthwhile stay.
