The apartment style room was very homely. Didn't feel like I was in a hotel and it was lovely to have family visit us in our suite.

The best ceasar salad in the world!

Friendly staff and great location!

I stay at numerous hotels for business as a Consultant. This is the first time I've stayed at the Bolton, usually Rydes. Truly recommended and I am a discerning demanding customer passionate about excellent customer service. Stayed in 1 bed apartment, felt luscious without OTT. Everything you need, pillow choice, high quality sheets, powerful shower, felt new and not full of other people's smells and being (as some hotels) extras provided. Room Service dining - as described and envisioned on the menu. great food and great customer service - professional, friendly and competent but not intrusive. What I'm seeking! Poss menu a little pricey and limited - that;s all.

No attention to complains about wireless and they claim hi speed internet. Only wireless was issue, wired was fine.

Few choices at breakfast table.

Great location.

Spacious rooms. Many amenities.

Almost lost my luggage twice. Can't understand what they were trying to do!!!

Stayed for two nights. Arrived very late (1am or so) but no issues checking in. Room was on the 16th floor - interesting as it was part of a family room. A main door and past that were two doors that split into the two separate rooms. Obviously they can rent out each individually, or you can rent both rooms.
Don't know what the other room was like, but my room was as follows. Walking through the door and on the right was the bathroom (shower, basin, and toilet - standard setup). Water pressure was good, selection of toiletries also good. On the left hand side was a small kitchen - two burner halogen stove, microwave, small dishwasher, and fridge. On the right past the bathroom was the (small, but sufficient) wardrobe behind folding concertina doors. Inside was an ironing board, iron, etc as well as a decent number of coat hangers. Two terry toweling dressing gowns and slippers were also provided.
Next was the bed - large king size bed (fairly firm -which was fine by me) with many pillows (plus a note about a 'pillow menu'), and the pelt from Sasquatch on the end. To the right of the bed there were a couple of chairs and a small table. On the side was a desk with a cable for internet (wifi was also available), plus (unusually) quite a small TV. Didn't worry me as I didn't watch any tv, but if you did want to you'd need to do it from the chairs unless you had amazing eyesight.
The room had windows for the larger wall, and a smaller one on the other - opening the blinds gave a great view of the Bolton St Memorial Park. A beautiful, if sometimes sad, reminder of the past. Although this meant there was also a great view of the motorway (that was controversially built through the middle of this), insulation was good so could not hear anything. The windows had a blockout blind as well as a lighter material blind - so light was also well controlled. The room was also neat, and in good condition. Reception - booking in, checking out was simple, friendly, professional, and courteous.... I was on a business trip, so it provided a comfortable room to stay. I could not ask for more.

Location is good - a small convenience shop is a quick walk away for snacks plus a number of restaurants close by and it's not a hard walk to get to the main shopping area.
Did not get a chance to try the pool (too tired!) or the restaurant (ate out!) but overall I was impressed and would definitely come back.

The staff were extremely helpful and obliging. The room was smaller than expected but very comfortable and immaculately presented. Service was efficient and proffesional throughout our short stay. Good central location.

This is a good hotel and I had a pleasant stay.

I was greeted by friendly staff at reception. My room was spacious enough, as it had kitchen facilities, so probably a bit more area than a standard room - probably as I was a work traveller on this instance. It had a nice queen or king bed coupled with nice fittings.

If you are wanting close-by evening excitement, then this is not walking distance to Courtenay Place. Nested in the CBD and very close to government buildings and parliament, this area was mainly built up during the early 1970's, so the area can lack some character.

Its a sad indictment of Wellington hotels if this is "one or thee best in the captial". It met all expectations of what a 4 star hotel should provide.

Free wifi was a nice surprise for kiwi hotels.

As most people have raved on before me - Very Good.

I have stayed in Wellington countless times and my husband and I are actually a little disappointed that it has taken us so long to stay here! Bolton is by far the best hotel that we've stayed in in Wellington... maybe even New Zealand! The staff were lovely and attentive and the room had a great view of Wellington. I would recommend that everyone try the new Thai restaurant that has opened on the Terrace. Oh and the hike up the street to the Botanical Gardens was a killer but definitely burnt off my dinner and was SO worth it :)
