Went on a Friday night with friends. Great atmosphere and food. Thought we would have to wait ages seeing as though they don't take bookings- but we must have been there early enough and got a table quickly. The only thing that took shine off the experience was the wait staff. The staff member did not make the meal overly enjoyable - at least the food was lovely!

Went their with friends for dinner and that was great! I love the place, the high ceiling and the open kitchen. We had to wait at the bar because it was very busy but we enjoyed wine and chicken liver parfait (maybe a bit too expensive for the size of the container…) Then we had a table close to the open kitchen. We loved it! The service was friendly and we did not have to wait for ages between the courses. Starters were very nice and mains too. Sides were ok but the salad was very small for the price… Desserts were good too. I highly recommend this place.

Just had a great evening out. Good balance of food, service and atmosphere. Great light starters, boys enjoyed steaks beautifully cooked and the girls had the fish. Ended with lovely deserts and as my husband described it the best coffee he has had for ages at a restaurant.

Was worried about the serviced based on some previous reviews, but we had a lovely waitress who looked after us so well it was really appreciated - plus she was happy to respond to the jokes going on at the table.

I have been here many many times. It's a great spot. It's buzzy and alive. Can be noisy so be warned if you were expecting an intimate night. The food is great. It's not complicated and that for me is a good thing. Good wine list, particularly the Champagnes. Helpful friendly staff. A great spot!!!

We stumbled upon Charley Noble on Friday evening when looking for a meal after 9.30pm - we had come via the nearby area of bars and restaurants on the wharf where we had been told at two restaurants that their kitchens were closed and the other places were much more "bars" and we are no longer the right demographic for that scene and so wandered back into the CBD area thinking it was probably going to be McDonalds at best if we actually found anywhere at all to eat at that hour . . . and then there in front of us was Charley Noble on the ground floor of an office block

The place was certainly far from quiet with a great buzz (but not of the bar-like kind which we were avoiding) - the front of house were very welcoming and the (open to see) kitchen was certainly still very much operating at 9.45pm and providing a meal was definitely not a problem for Charley Noble at that time

The menu that had several things which greatly interested and it was and difficult to choose and the food produced was fabulous (the ravioli was "the best ever" according to Christina) and our waiter was very knowledgeable and professional (and in conversation later when things were slowing down we found out that he is accumulating his experience via time at notable establishments as part of his world travels)

We have recently rediscovered riesling (particularly from Waipara) so were very pleased to find the Pegasus Bay 2010 on the wine list and were able also then have a Pegasus Late Harvest and our waiter came up with a great suggestion to accompany that which was something he arranged with the chef that was not just straight off the menu - this was a really nice and special way to finish what was a standout experience at a place which we just stumbled upon and so had no expectations other than just needing something to eat
