Ian and Marjorie were kind and caring hosts. We stayed over Christmas - they put up decorations and we joined them for Christmas Eve Service at the Cathedral. The Apartment is quite large, with a separate bedroom, modern kitchen and bathroom. A single bed is in the lounge room and there is a separate conservatory with dining table - It was a lovely spot to watch the bumble bees buzzing around the lavender in the spectacular flower garden. Apple Tree Apartment is perfect for a small family. Newtown is only a 5 min drive from the CBD/shopping precinct and harbour of Wellington, and I would say a 3 min drive to the airport. We drove around the bay and it was still only a short return trip to Newtown - so I would recommend that suburb if you have a car, and evidence of public transport is on the nearby road. We dined at the Mediterranean Market (at our hosts suggestion) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Petrol station and supermarket are very close by. We are planning to return to Wellington and would stay at Apple Tree Apartment again. Thank you Ian and Marjorie - we loved our stay with you.

Ian warmly welcomed us to the Apple Tree Apartment, which is nestled amongst a beautiful wrap around garden. The apartment is spacious and has everything one needs to enjoy your holiday. It was easy to get a good nights sleep because the bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet. Ian is a fantastic and friendly host. We enjoyed the conversations we had too. Ian was also most obliging by letting us into the apartment earlier than planned on the day. The apartment is very close to local shops by walking distance and close to the city bus stop too. It's much better to leave your car behind and utilise public transport. Buses run every 10 minutes at $3.50 per ride. My husband and I highly recommend staying at the Apple Tree Apartment. We will remember staying at Wellington as a most enjoyable part of our New Zealand time away. Thank you Ian. Kind regards, Kay and Don. PS May the best cricket team win.
Our hosts are delightful, only too happy to assist, while respectful to guests' privacy. Love the comfortable, clean and spaceous flat, with beautiful garden views. Also, very accessible for my mobility challenges. Many thanks!

We had a wonderful experience staying at Apple Tree Apartment. Our hosts Ian & Marjorie were helpful and gracious. We enjoyed our time with them. The apartment was so comfortable. We loved the conservatory! We enjoyed looking out at all the wonderful birds and butterflies. The apartment is in a wonderful location. A short walk to the bus stop. The garden was exceptionally nice. The queen size bed was very comfortable and the whole experience of staying here was wonderful. We would stay here again!

Ian and Marjorie have created a fabulous little apartment to stay in whilst in Wellington with absolutely everything provided. We especially loved the sunroom which opens out onto their beautiful garden. We appreciated the opportunity to do some washing and cooking and have comfortable beds after several nights in backpackers and caravan parks. Clear instructions were left for us to use the tv, access the local supermarket and get transport into the city. Easy parking is available too. They deserve the praise from previous reviewers, we would also strongly recommend you consider staying in their apartment in the delightful city of Wellington.

This was just like being at home. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, immaculate, a sun room and a lovely garden. To top it all off lovely owners who were so easy to chat to. It is a little way out of the main part of Wellington but I think that's to the better. The bus is just down the road as are shops and restaurants as well as a zoo and a park. Wellington is a very hilly city so be prepared for being energetic.
We stayed at Apple Tree Apartment in June for an entire month. It was a wonderful choice for us. Ian and Marjorie, the hosts, are warm and tremendously helpful. They picked us up at the airport, and made us feel entirely at home. Getting to know them was a highlight of the trip for us.
The apartment is spacious and well-furnished with a complete kitchenette. It has off-street parking and a private entrance through a beautiful garden. It also has a large sunroom along its whole front, which faces the garden. We were there in winter, and there were a few days even then when we could use the sunroom. Between the sunroom and the radiant in-floor heating, the apartment was cozy even on cold damp says. (It was also very nice to have complete Sky TV.)
The location was perfect for us as we have family in Newtown, which has many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Central Wellington is also walkable from here, although a bit of a hike, or a short bus ride. If you have a car, the Newtown area is one of the best locations in Wellington for access to both Wellington and the coast, other neighborhoods etc. The apartment is on a very quiet cul-de sac street and nicely sheltered by its location from the Wellington wind.
Ian and Marjorie are very child friendly. Our small grandson loved playing with some of the toys they have kept for their grandchildren.
