Ate here following a positive recommendation. It was fairly good - beef short rib was excellent, the fish wrapped in prosciutto was very tasty, the patatas bravas fine, the sardines a bit too bony with a few scales (?). The place can be smokey, due to the BBQ at the front. We sat at the back which was fine. Would I go back? Definitely. This would be a great place for social food with friends (even if they are vegetarian as there was a lot of choice).

We shared a few plates of tapas between friends and loved it! Great attention to detail, lovely flavours. My personal favourite was the melted cheese & smoked paprika - I think it was provlone cheese. Delish! Had a fantastic caipirinha too, the taste *almost* makes up for the half an hour wait for it! :) Get a table outside, lovely on a hot summers day!

Looks very scruffy from the outside (and the inside) but don't be put off - the food is wonderful, some of the best tapas we've ever had and desserts to die for. Also the service is great, really friendly, prompt and welcoming. Worth a visit if you're in Cuba Street.

Great to watch the nerve centre of a busy place. We turned up to a full restaurant and just grabbed two empty stools at the bar. No problem for dinners with a small appetite and since were only after a few tapas anyway, this was the way to go. Our best choice was fish fillets wrapped in Pancetta which went well with their Roja Garnacha. Would go there again to explore a bit more.

Have tried to have dinner at El Matador on a couple of occasions - they are confused about whether they take bookings or not: we have been told they don't, only to arrive in the evening and hear that they are "fully booked". On another occasion we DID have a booking for lunch (during Wellington on a Plate) and arrived to find the restaurant closed and several of us waiting outside. But we have persevered - and decided to arrive early for breakfast/brunch. We are pleased we did. Particularly friendly and helpful service, nice coffee (they use Havana beans), good food, and comfortable, spacious seating. By the time we finished there were several groups with young children or babies, and yet the noise was no problem and the atmosphere relaxed. Character toilets, yes, the decor may not be to everyone's taste but we liked it, and everything was clean. We will try again for dinner one day.....
