This was an excellent and cheaper alternative to staying at Base Hostel. It was very quiet and dark for sleeping. The older style building gave it a more serious tone and attracted a composed backpacking crowd.
Kitchen was clean and had necessary utensils. Eating area was a bit cramped because it doubled as a lounge but it was nice to watch TV during meals.
Location is convenient in downtown but once you enter the hotel you don't see it or hear it.
The dorm rooms were outfitted with the basic bunks and linens, but they had a spacious shelf/organized area for belongings and suitcases.
The bathrooms were awesome! Loved the many well-lit mirrors, mini sinks, and airflow in the shower area. The light-saving techniques in stalls should be used everywhere! Plenty of facilities, very clean and classy. They even had a hair dryer :)
Laundry facilities were in good working order. Always a plus. Not many washers, but also no line.
The front desk staffers were awesome and extremely helpful in planning my ferry and directions. They made me feel like an important guest, not just another hiker off of the trail. If I ever return to Wellington I will definitely stay here!More
