An affordable place to stay and an easy walk around the city. Friendly team who are really helpful. The lounge areas are comfortable and a great area to relax in to finish off a busy day.
The rooms are small but adequate and very good value.

I always stay here when I visit my daughter in Wellington. I can get a good room price and it has everything I need to make my stay comfortable. The biggest bonus for me is that it is within walking distance from the airport bus. The staff are always very helpful.

Having read other reviews before booking, I was expecting a very small with an even tiner bathroom, somewhat noisy, but worth the discomfort due to the central location. Well, apparently my sister and I were blessed, as we booked a regular room, and room 223 was super spacious with a huge bathroom! :-)

Noisy, somewhat. We did ask for a room at the back of the hotel (not facing Cuba street) as per other reviewers suggestions, but we ended up right across a narrow hall from the housekeeping office, and beside the elevator...which meant that every morning we could hear doors slamming and staff dropping vacuum hoses etc. against the walls early in the morning. The elevator whirred away quietly most of the time, mostly unused between 2am - 6am. We used earplugs, which helped quite a bit. We thought we would ask to be moved to a different room because of the housekeeping noise and the front desk staff were very accommodating. We went up to look at the new room before moving everything over, and immediately declined, as the "new" room - and bathroom - was 1/2 the size...which wasn't going to work for two girls and five bags! The long and short of it: good hotel, excellent location, acceptably clean. Alas, only 30 min free wireless/day and overpriced internet to buy after that. The upside is that becoming a bit "unplugged" turned out to be a good thing :-)

Room Tip: Ask for 123, 223, or 323 as they appear to be the largest "regular" priced rooms available...

The room was chilly when we arrived (to be fair, it was winter) but the heater did its job. Despite being small, it didn't feel cramped. The decor and fittings were good quality and in top condition.

The location is excellent - it's a short walk from the wide range of shops on Cuba Street and the Te Papa museum.

We managed to confound the staff at breakfast by ordering plated breakfasts, as opposed to the more expensive buffet. It took a while to arrive, and it felt a little odd to see other guests help themselves from the buffet while we waited.

The staff were helpful when our flight leaving Wellington was cancelled due to severe weather. We would have liked to stay on at the CQ but unfortunately the hotel was full. (We found another room nearby.)

Room Tip: Our room (on the first floor) had a little street noise.

The wife and I stayed here for only one night. Room was small, but that is all we really needed for one night. the staff was helpful, even though we had to pay for parking, we really appreciated the convince of the parking lot to the hotel. The location was excellent. The front door of the hotel opened right onto Cuba St. Direct access to all of the streets quirky shops and restaurants. We stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor overlooking Cuba Street. worried about street noise, but not a prob...

My college aged son and I stayed here recently. We had a two bedroom suite, room 400 I believe. There were some detracting factors. There is a short flight of a dozen stairs up to our room that would require help hauling luggage for someone elderly. Some of the carpets were threadbare, the TV channels were limited and some did not come in well. There was secured parking but it cost an additional $25. My son did complain about some street noise in his room.

Despite all of this, I really liked staying here. Our suite was huge. There was a sitting area for watching TV, a dining area and and a large galley type kitchen. Where there was not carpet, there were wooden floors. It really did have a lot of character. I thought that it was like having our own, really cool, apartment in the city. In addition, the location could not be beaten. The entrance was on Cuba Street. Close to a multitude of shops and restaurants and not a bad walk to the harbor area. I would definitely stay here again.

We often visit Wellington for quick weekend breaks and usually stay down by the harbour. This time we decided to go for a 'cheaper' option so chose the Comfort Hotel. What a good choice. The location in Cuba St was right in amongst many interesting shops and quirky eating places. Loved the character and good old fashioned charm and service. The welcome was very friendly and helpful. We had booked two twin rooms but were put into two doubles however this was quickly rectified without any problem at all. The rooms were small but adequate, very clean and loved being able to control the heating and open windows. No noisy air-con's here. We enjoyed a drink in the bar although it could do with more seating in that area.
The bed and breakfast package turned out to be excellent value. Breakfast was very nice, great to see gluten free options available without having to make special request. Looking forward to staying here again.
