We spent a faultless couple of nights at this hotel. We were assigned a suite for my wife and I, plus an adjoining room for my two sons, both with fantastic views across Wellington harbour. The rooms were very well equiped, very spacious, and basically faultless. We had breakfast one morning in the hotel which was superb - my two teenage sons did the buffet justice!!

Checked out within 15 minutes of checking it. Yes it really was that bad! Shockingly dated looking and feeling decor. Bathroom fitting for a 90s motel and worst off all their ridiculous internet policy of allowing 100MB per day and then dramatically slowing down the connection until cutting it off completely when you reach 1GB. In this day and age this is totally inexcusable. Its an embarrassment for InterContinental brand. Pathetic.

This is a good hotel , no mistake but it, like many others , in the IHG group of hotels has snuck in a "capped Internet " usage policy. Already very expensive at $30 a day it now limits your usage to 100mb and the throttles the speed unless you opt for a further charge of $0.10c per Mb. the reduced speed is frustratingly slow and the additional cost frighteningly expensive if you continue to work with large files such as PPTs or video files. My additional charges amounted to over $180 in less than two days. Its the new version of the minibar scam. look out for it but above all complain - its unnecessary and exploitive and we shouldnt put up with it

However your comments have been noted and we are assessing opportunities to support guests who have high volume internet requirements.
With thanks,

Booked a Club Room as part of a package for Wearable Arts. Really only wanted a regular room but was told when we bookedand paid in March that only Club rooms were available. When we arrived at our room (just given a key and pointed to the elevators), it was NOT on the Club level. Went down to complain, was told they had overbooked, given a swipe card for the club lounge and told our room was the same as a club room. Arrived at the Club Lounge - think English Coach Tour rather than Koru Lounge atmosphere. Small, no spare seats, people settled in for the duration. Perched on a windowsill, I talked to others who had seen both types of room and confirmed Club was superior. Was fuming, but went to the show, and discussed the problems on checkout. They said sorry, they were overbooked and busy, but were not prepared to give the partial refund I requested as it was prepaid through the package deal, and i got a discounted rate anyway. So a birthday treat for my mother , who is a fulltime carer for her invalid husband, wasn't quite the treat it should have been. Poor communication and poor customer service. Not good enough for a 5 star establishment to sell an executive room as the only available, and supply another with no partial refund or other compensation.

We do appreciate the time you have taken to provide the review feedback.
All feedback is extremely important to us. Our hotel team regularly receives very good feedback with regards to high levels of service so it was disappointing we have not achieved this standard during your stay. The hotel team would appreciate the opportunity to welcome you back.

The InterContinental Wellington, although in many respects getting abit tired around the edges is still one of the best located hotels in Wellington, right in the heart of the city within easy walking distance to most of the cities amenities.

A popular hotel with visiting sports teams, celebraties as well as high flyers, the hotel boasts excellent facilities, and restaurants. The pool however could do with a bit of an update for a five star hotel, as some aspects where getting a bit worn.

In all however, I would strongly recommend this hotel to business and leisure travellers who happen to be visiting Wellington.
