Description: Avida is inspired by the tapas culture of Spain. We champion the wines of Jerez & Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and those made from tempranillo. We also like gin. Our menu is full of dishes designed to be shared. Plates are served as they are prepared. We suggest two or three dishes per person.

Wow - the young lady waiting tables welcomes you. The manager knows his wines, Just a really professional team that make this well decorated locale work for the punter.

We loved Avida, just passed by thought it looked good and went in. the italian waiter who seated us was a delight. He had a great sense of humor, quite dry and very witty. The setting was fantastic and the food really tasty. We would have gone back the next night but it was closed for a private function.

A party of five of us went on a Friday evening and were ignored by staff. Any time we wanted drinks we had to hunt down staff, and often gave up on the table service and went to the bar.

When we asked for the bill (we spent over $300) it was thrust at our table without any comment by the staff. It was a stunning display of how not to treat people if you want them to return.

Visited for dinner during Wellington on a Plate. Loved their Wellington on a Plate menu, friendly and efficient service, nice atmosphere – busy enough to be fun, but not so noisy that you can’t have a decent conversation. Were very attentive to my 11 year old daughter, so she loved it too. Definitely recommend.

After a few dining experiences now, Avida has got better and better. The initial visit, not long after it opened, was a selection of tapas where you could taste the Mediterranean if only because a few of the plates were liberally salted. Since then, things have been faultless - and the wine list has also improved immensely, with some excellent value too (2011 Trinity Hill Montepulciano for just $40). In the last three visites all three mains were top notch: Slow cooked lamb, baby onions & parsley rice had succulent lamb falling perfectly apart. Pork shoulder in an almond sauce and leaf salad was also mouth-wateringly succulent and the almond sauce adding an extra dimension (although just a touch too sweet for me). The braised Wakanui Blue ox cheek with cauliflower cream, wild mushrooms and salted lemon was also top-notch. Service is friendly and efficient. It's well worth a visit.
