I booked this hotel because I wanted to be within walking distance of the city attractions and the bus and railroad terminal (which are together). The hotel is close to everything - minutes to the Te Papa Museum, Wellington Museum, Cable Car and Carter Observatory, the Beehive, and the railroad terminal which also services Intercity bus travel (a highly popular rated grocery store is located within the terminal - definitely recommended). Shuttle from the airport is just 20NZ.

The hotel was a real value, the best for my money in New Zealand (I stayed at 7 different hotels on my ski and surf trip in August 2011). The rooms were professionally decorated with duvets on the beds, big screen tvs on the walls, ample desk areas, light wood panels, upscale colors and details, and modern bathroom fixtures (teak- like flooring, corian counter tops, clear glass shower doors and euro shower fixtures). Definitely recommended.

My second stay here. Although its not the Hilton, it was all I needed when arriving into Wellington on a midnight flight. 24 hour service, average and clean rooms at a budget price with an excellent location to the inner city. Being part of the Accor group you can get a good deal if you book early. Great buffet breakfast at a competitive price.

4 of us friends stayed here one night for the Wearable Art Awards. We booked 2 rooms. The rooms while very clean, were very narrow. When we checked in at 2pm for our rooms, one of the rooms were not ready, which was unacceptable. We went to our room, and it was so hot that we tried to get the air/cond to work, to no avail. So the Maintenance Man came and said he would check it out as it was not working, it was so stuffy. He came back and said they could not do anything, as "THEY TURN THE COOLERS OFF AND THEY WERE NOT TURNING THEM BACK ON". We said this was unacceptable, it is in their room brochure that each room can have the temperature adjusted, this is a load of rubbish. Then we were advised, it will be better in the evening. When we returned to our room at 11pm, it was worse. I went to complain again, but was just given the manager's card to complian, like we had not already done so. It was so hot that we did not sleep. It was cooler in the corridor. We should have moved our mattresses out there. This is a disgusting attitude that they don't turn on the coolers, for the aircon to work. We will never stay here again and this is not the way to showcase our country. The only positive, was that the bed was comfortable, but that made no difference if it was too hot to sleep.

Dear AucklandNZTravellers,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us and I am disappointed that we have not lived up to our normal standard. As you would now WOW is a very busy time for hotels and when arriving guests need rooms with certain requirements such as being next door to each other or a certain room type, they do take a little longer to organise and I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. With regards to the air conditioning in the rooms, the temperature in the rooms can be adjusted to heat or cool the rooms however there are limits to what maximum and minimum temperatures can be selected and I am sorry that these temperatures did not meet your requirements. At no point do we ever “turn the coolers off”; the system runs 24 hours 7 days a week. I do apologise that your stay did not meet your expectations and I will be contacting you directly in the next couple of days to discuss further.

Kind regards,

Nathan Frost

Stayed here for one night with my teenage daughter. So close to the TSB Arena where we went to see the WOW show.
The room was basic but still had all you need when only staying one night. Very comfortable & clean. We ordered room service which one has to pick up from the restaurant . It was reasonablly priced & quick which was good as we were in a hurry!
Next morning they held our bags in their luggage room even after we had checked out which allowed us to walk around town etc -

After the reviews on here, thought we'd stay here for 2 nights during the World of Wearable Arts show with my wife. For the price and from the reviews, we were expecting something nice. We walked into our room and both of us felt gutted. Ok - it was clean. But very narrow - like having a bed in a cupboard. Not assisted by the poor quality built in furniture either. Shower was good though.

We approached the duty manager and asked for a better room and were told that they didn't have any.

Stay here if you're one person at work. With your partner - go somewhere else.
