“Spotlight in Wellington”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

The Botanic garden is our favorite place in Wellington. Great views, nice walks in a very well maintained place. Take the cable car to the top and start your walks way down. Took us a good part of the morning to walk calmly to the entire garden.

“Tame sparrows at coffee time”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

We were probably a little late in the NZ year to get the most out of the gardens but they are a pleasant place to wander at any time of year. On your way out go thru' the cemetery and back into town. Lots of interesting stones with stories to tell.

Cafe is set in the rose garden. Good coffee and cake with a flock of very tame sparrows who like cake enough to sit on your hand to eat it!

“Walk down from the top relaxing with plenty of interest”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

Take the cable car up to the top and then walk down via the many paths. Don't miss the interesting sculptures, a couple are very innovative. The old observatory buildings are at the top, but not open to public. Shame about the Met Office building - very ugly. Walk through the historical cemetery after the rose garden and then on to Parliament House.

“Fantastic stroll down after the tram journey on the way up.”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

We walked down after talking to some people at the top of the cliff and we were not disappointed. the walk was a spectacular exhibition of tree and flowers in there native surroundings. The path is not for the faint heart-ted and is worth doing and is clearly marked all the way down so you don't get lost on the way as their are small tracks going off. All the species are labelled and the garden exhibits explained. the whole walk will take anything from 1-2 hours and gives wonderful views of differing parts of the city.It was great for us to see all these flowers in bloom as we come from the England and we we are in winter at the moment. The is a rose garden with a splendid glass house and fountains to visit as well. The path eventually brings you back at the other end of the welling main high street. A wonder place to visit whilst in wellington.

“Beautiful and Easy Walk”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

Nice cable car ride but not that interesting. The actual gardens were beautiful and the view over Wellington is unmissable.
