Very pleasant stay and reasonable for the price paid for. Place was generally clean and toilets were not too bad but the pillow was really thin and I had to fold to get some sleep with the pillow. Also, sleeping next to the common door to the bathrooms was pretty disturbing for my sleep as the doors were too loud when opened and closed.

Very pleased with this backpackers. Got what we were told we were going to get. Which has been a problem at other Wellington backpackers. Kitchen was cleaned at least 3 times daily and were always clean. Staff were friendly and nice the whole time. Bed was good enough to get decent sleep. Will definitely use again

Trek Global was recommended to me by several people, but in the end I was disappointed. The location and decor/atmosphere is really lovely. It's an easy walk to everything and the building has nice character (if a little confusing to navigate for newcomers). However the rooms are badly situated (I was in a 4 bed dorm in the Blue section). All of the rooms are off of the communal kitchen/lounge area and so noise is a huge issue. Due to lack of sleep at night I tried one morning to sleep in but that turned out to be even worse as during the day there is loud rhythmic music blasting away. The Kitchen was always messy and low on equipment. The bathrooms were a nice size but be sure you have a pair of shower shoes as the floors are frequently wet/unclean.
All-in-all, I've had stays in scarier hostels (see Wellywood). But if you're like me and value having a quite space to relax after a long day walking around this is not the hostel for you.

Room Tip: It's possible that noise is less of an issue on the higher floors or in "The Retreat" (girls only).

Staff and location are really good. I had a particular situation, staying at a 4 bed female dorm, one of the girls brought guys to the room during the night until we gave advice to the security. I am not the kind of "bad@ss" roommate, but as I know many people (backpackers) live in the hostel and work in the area so must be difficult for them to handle certain "noises" during their period of rest. You should be clearer with rules.
Common areas are clean, I saw the housekeeping personal cleaning all the time, but I would wish my room to be cleaned (may be vacuum) at least once each couple of days.

Room Tip: you could put coffee and breakfast things in all the kitchens, not only in the downstairs one.

An ok hostel in a good location, nice old building and good service. The problem is that the bedrooms (at least on my floor) faced onto the kitchen and common area which makes for alot of noise. It was very hard to get a decent sleep in this place as a result. The bathrooms were ok but could do with more regular cleaning - but weren't bad. Overall a place with alot of potential if it was designed better.
