Owner description: Free, one-hour guided tours of Parliament operate every day on the hour. Take a tour with one of our trained guides to visit key parts of Parliament's buildings and learn about our parliamentary processes, and have an insight in to New Zealand's history and culture. Tours operate seven days a week with the first tour at 10am, last tour 4pm. We recommend you arrive least 15 minutes before the tour departs as tour group sizes are limited and so you have time to check in your belongings. Everyone must leave their bags, coats, phones, cameras and other electronic devices in secure storage at the Visitor Centre in the Beehive. Individuals do not need to book. Groups of 10 or more are required to book their tour in advance. Specialist tours are avaiable on request but must be booked in advance.

“We liked the Beehive”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

The Parliament buildings look very odd - it seems to be in 2 or 3 sections which I thought looked very ugly. However on the inside it is wonderful to look at. Not only do you hear about the history but you get to go into the basement and see where they've had to put all the earthquake measures into place. The guide was full of knowledge and happy to answer all questions. We were there over the Xmas period and it was very busy with tourists so the tour slots were filling up fast. You may be left disappointed if you don't get there early. It's also nice to go on a tour that's free!

“impressive buildings... especially the wooden building and library”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

it has a interesting beehive shape. THe accompanying buiiding is quite impressive but i was stunned by the library next to it. The wooden building (old parliament bldgs) is huge and I understand it is one of the biggest in the world of its type.

“Well worth a tour”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Much to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I had not expected the beautiful artworks and the wonderful architecture. You can't take photographs once inside but hey often have explanatory leaflets you can pick up.

“Blown away”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

what an amaxing place
i thought the debating chamber would be heaps bigger
The guide was amazing, she knew everything, especially her own little quirky bits about the fish n chip shop, and premeir house being a dental surgery.
The foundations exposed was great if youre into that kind of thing.
the airport xray machine was unexpected but necessary i guess.
i woldnt recommend it for families with young children or if english is hard to understand
Very quiet and peacefull without all the clowns who run the country not being there.

“Lovely scenary”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Loved the gorgeous buildings next to parliament, however if you want to go inside you are not allowed to take cameras or cell phones so just a mental note. Also there are lots of places to take nice photos
