This museum is excellent. It focuses on the anthropology and history of Maori and New Zealand. It also has some nice exhibits on vulcanism and earthquakes. Overall, a very special place to spend a few hours. I recommend paying for a 1-hour guided tour on the first visit. The Impressionist Art Exhibit that we bought tickets for was nice, but limited in scope--not recommended, unless you have never been exposed to such works in top international art museums.
