This is the best museum that I have ever visited! Excellent interactive displays, featuring a very good selection of biological, geological and cultural components of New Zealand. The venue seems well designed and especially well laid out.

Subjects were very well presented, in a modern manner, with some very well done interactive displays.

Thank Ted W

I'm a museum professional so it's always nice to see what other museums are doing and how they are doing it. I was pleased to see them open late night on a Thursday and it was a lovely, peaceful experience. No crowds or school kids and there were no special exhibitions on so I could just wander around and take it all in. Everything is well sign-posted and easy to get to via lifts or escalators. The natural history area is stunning with suspended whale skeletons, dioramas, and NZ bird noises, and there are plenty of exhibit signs and good lighting. I was thrilled to see that they have FOUR hands-on children's Discovery areas, all slightly differently themed, as well as a creative area in their art wing. This was really nice, with tables, art paper and pencils and lots of inspiration with Ralph Hotere and Michael Parakowhai works around. The cafe on the 5th (?) floor looked very nice - deep leather chairs and low lighting. It was a grown up area as opposed to a family cafe. Loved the NZ nostalgia area and the Maori culture exhibits. I was in there two hours and barely scratched the surface. The staff were very helpful indeed. When I left at 6.45, they were kind enough to call me a taxi. Highly recommended and they have a Warhol exhibition coming apparently.

You can spend so much time getting involved with and exploring all the different exhibits. A stop for coffee half way and drool over the Brittain motor cycle. Than experience an earthquake. Great for adults and children

Had small grandchildren with us so stayed in the Natural
History part which they loved - especially being allowed to open any drawer they wanted to see what was inside.
Te Papa remains a favorite with them and I would like to return, one day, for my own tour of discovery
