Owner description: Wellington Museum is housed in the Bond Store, an 1892 heritage building designed by leading architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. Set over four floors, the exhibitions tell the myriad stories of our city and region. Wellington Museum's newest permanent exhibition, The Attic, opened in late 2015. Set in the newly open to the public fourth floor, The Attic features some of the curious and quirky tales from our past. From lions to artwork, steam engines to UFO sighting flies, Vampires and a time machine (Nga Hau), the Museum shares our fascinating stories.

Te Papa showcases the culture and land , but Museum of Wellington City and Sea brings us the history of the area . Displays are created for fast or in depth enjoyment . Plenty of room to pass by others or have multiple people view each focal point at once . History buffs should plan a little longer to visit .
close to Te Papa ,and many other wellington attractions if you have the time for 2 museums or will be here multiple days

We really enjoyed this stroll through history. Very well done and never a moment to be bored... Enjoyed the Maori myths and legends.

This is a great little museum. Everyone loves it. The fabulous exhibits and the small size of the museum makes it fun and manageable for all ages.

Every time I visit this place has new exhibits. It gives a real feel for how Wellington developed over time in its relationship with the 'city and sea'

This was one of my high lights when in Wellington. It is a free museum, and boost's it's in the top 50, well I would certainly agree.

The museum was well presented, including short video shows, interactive area for children. I ambled around, and probably spent about an hour there. Staff were friendly and I also purchased a couple a bits and pieces from the small shop there.

If you get a chance do go, I preferred this museum to the larger Te Papa one.
