Owner description: Wellington Museum is housed in the Bond Store, an 1892 heritage building designed by leading architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. Set over four floors, the exhibitions tell the myriad stories of our city and region. Wellington Museum's newest permanent exhibition, The Attic, opened in late 2015. Set in the newly open to the public fourth floor, The Attic features some of the curious and quirky tales from our past. From lions to artwork, steam engines to UFO sighting flies, Vampires and a time machine (Nga Hau), the Museum shares our fascinating stories.

The outside of the building gives no clues to how excellent this museum is. I spent about 1 hour, went out for coffee and food, and then came back. Its quite small, only 3 floors, but lots to see. An excellent insight into the history of Wellington

This is a musuem that isn't really a museum!? As you enter make sure you look closely at the life-size dioramas; if you look closely you will see rats and cats and all sorts of things. Make sure to talk to the hosts who will add much of interest to your visit. The museum often has lectures and performances in the main gallery space; again ask your hosts.

Very interesting museum on the history of Wellington. They have a great timeline with plenty of pictures and examples, some interactive exhibits too. There were several areas specific to children's activities. Plenty of reading material as well as several movies and audio presentations.

Somewhat interactive but really not geared for young ones. In a great neighborhood with a nearby playground.

This is a great museum to take the kids to. Our 2yr old loves pressing all the buttons and watching the train go back & forward. There is so much to see and touch which is a bonus for a museum and its never been over-busy when we have been there which has been great.
